Fairly arbitrary comment imo.

I'd bet both Bedard and Celebrini would have loved to play here.
Wasn’t speaking for everyone, sir. But sure

Can be argued that the ones that would hate to play here aren’t the ones we want on the team anyways.

They’ll worry more about the potential failure and heat coming from the fans than the ultimate goal.

Those that want to play here would focus on the positives and likely be far more of an asset. Possibly more than in other markets!

They would strive for the glory!

I get Dudes point to a degree and some of it ties into the Hronek Paterson BS.

But there are local guys who have and would love to play here and there's guys not from here who stayed here....

I would play here no problem.

Yup I get it as well! Expectations are high.

But yeah, I grew up cheering for the team. Watching them fall just short of the Cup. Would do anything and everything to bring the Cup to my hometown!

We need to find those guys.

Florida.

Second words.

No State tax.

Interwebz rumorz have Florida and Sam close to on the same page for a deal already....

I agree on the local talent however.
Not sure I buy into the no tax argument...

New York and California are heavily taxed States and they don't seem to be bothered when attracting talent...

Not to mention Florida teams are struggling with cap issues like the majority of the league is...

Saw a twitter post saying that on a $3 million dollar contract a Toronto player pays $500,000 more in taxes than a Florida player does...

At todays exchange rate, $3 million US is worth $4.1 million in Canadian dollars, so without understanding any other tax issues that may be involved it seems to me players would want to play in Canada where they get paid in US dollars...

Take care...

Yeah, my point was meant to be a combination of both, not specifically one of limited tax implications.

Paul Reinhart had a successful finance career after his NHL career. You know Paul is advising his son to max his financial earnings on his next contract taking in account tax savings. The tax implications are definitely on the minds of the Reinhart family with Sam’s next and final contract. Paul who I believe still lives in Vancouver I imagine is telling his so to stay the fuck out of Vancouver if he goes to market, lol.

Fair point...

Which makes it odd that 2 of the very best, if not the best to play the game played in Edmonton...

For sh*ts and giggles, McDavid's current contract of $12.5 per converts to just under $17.1 Canadian at todays currency rate...

Players being paid in US dollars is one of the biggest challenges Canadian owners face when operating a team which means that it is an advantage to players playing for Canadian teams...

Would be interesting to know what the off ice opportunities are for players playing in Florida as compared to players in Edmonton or Vancouver...

Wealthy $$ are transient $$ so a good tax man can take some of the sting out of some of the higher tax rates in Canada as compared to some of the American States...

Take care..

Van City is overrated…hate to say it. Used to be good. Had a good run around Expo and the Olympics but now it’s a cess pool and growing - 10,000 new immigrants in BC every 37 days, funny enough all of this is because of the Olympics and Expo. Be careful what you wish for? I’ve been telling the next generation in my fam to get the fuck out before the golden handcuffs get a hold of you, it will become your prison. There’s no future for the youth here unless Daddy has money. If I’m Reinhart I’m staying in Florida
