Stone was good .... two years ago, he like Petrovic would be ok as a #7 dman el cheapo, stock plummeting.

If he's healthy he's a solid hard-hitting 3rd-pairing PK-killing defenceman.

Calgary wouldn't have bought him out if they weren't in cap hell.

Well, generally speaking, nobody buys anybody out unless they're in cap hell.

But he was the clear top candidate, even when healthy in 17/18 he played under 17 min a game, and had gone from 36 points to 10 points.

Stone has been declining for 3 straight years, culminating in the injury-shortened season. At this point, I'd be a little surprised if he's even in the NHL next year.

I'd take him on as a Luke Schenn-type - park him on the farm, recall and see if he rekindles his career when injuries strike. But I don't think he's an everyday NHLer at this point.

and the 4th of a deal he signed (following Bouma, Raymond and Brouwer).

But, he sure structured the contract nicely. Stone was a cheap buy-out, as there were no bonuses, or front loading of $$. GMJB could take note.

I do not see a projection for team defense yet. Irrelevant anyway because we would be ranked below the top 16.
Inconsequential too because projections rarely take coaching, team systems and admirable defensive play by forwards
into their regurgitations.
