I thought ol' moneybags put in a decent effort tonight. Seemed alert and engaged.

Longest pointless streak of Pettersson's career:
6 games — right now
5 games — January, 2021
J.T. Miller came back to the team 6 games ago.
Petey had 16 points in the 10 games Miller was out on leave.
Yeah, there’s some funky psych shit going on for Petey when Miller is present, cause during Millers leave, Petey looked like old Petey in his absence. Weird
The question is, who is the elephant in the room?
1. Miller
2. Petey
3. Both - Petey and Miller
4. None of the above. The Media is the problem

5. Tocchet
(...not a statement of belief, adding to the narrative is all).

I feel for Tocchet in this situation, he’s a good coach. If we are looking to cast blame - if there is a problem in the family, this falls on the GM and President.

IF there is a problem, the blame rests solely on the 'professionals' who can't put bullshit aside and play the game. Unless there's a major problem (like infidelity with a teammate's significant other), then they need to man up, look at their bank account and play on.
We've all worked with people we hated and likely didn't make as much money, but we still got the job done.
No matter what the issue(s) is, this team needs to get back on track, and sadly, with our D looking like 5 AHL callups + Hughes, that will be tough.

You miss my point.
Coaches make mistakes.
In theory, Tocchet may potentially have "nominated" Miller to be the guy to "get some grit and drive" into Peteys game and as an unfortunate byproduct caused a rift.
Shit like Keenan (who RT played for as we know) and Bowman (and many more) used to do all the time.
Player A versus Player B....the Messier/Nedved effect.
Some guys (De Boer) grow into a changing league.
Some guys (Babcock) do not.
Not saying Tocchy is Babs but at times all the spots don't come off the leopard.
In the end I think this is all BS but if we are surmising this is a tough, old school coaching staff (Matt Duchene was commenting on Chiclets this week how tough Foote was on him as a young teammate) so...
...anything is potentially possible with the human animal in play.

Good points on Tocchet. He’s definitely cut from the old cloth, so he could be the root cause of it. But what’s telling for me is - Miller, excusing himself for 10 games for “personal” leave, is what says it’s all for me. In that it’s a player personnel problem and not a coaching problem. Why would Miller be taking the fall for a coaches “old ways”? Not adding up there.
Again, I could be missing the point.
I don’t think we know the half of it. This could be about Miller and Tocchet more than it is about Miller and Petey or Tocchet and Petey. Who the fuck knows.

Did Miller excuse himself?
Or did the team excuse him?
Again, not claiming anything here, just shooting the shit on what should be a ridiculous notion on a Pro Sports Team.

Good question, but Miller’s sabbatical points to the problem being more about Miller than the coach or even Petey for that matter, like ‘get your head sorted out’
That is - IMHO
Also, Petey’s 16 points over Millers 10 game sabbatical and how well the team played during it vs no points for Petey in the six games since Miller has returned and the team not playing well in his return either says something or mean’s nothing at all.

Who was Petey playing with while Miller was out?
----------
I can imagine a locker room conversation going something like:
JT: "Hey Elias, how about you start putting some points up?"
EP: "Easy for you to say, look at your linemates!"
JT: "Well, for 11.6, you should be able to put up points with anyone right?"
EP: <mumbling> "Go Fuck Yourself"
QH: "Cmon guys - let's win this one - play for the crest"
Rest of the D: (thinking to themselves) "I'll stay out of this, and just be happy I'm not in A where I belong"
