A bit surprised that Demko’s is that much. The risk was mitigated by contract length, not AAV. As sour as last season was, if Demko was healthy, the Canucks probably would have had a playoff spot.Cornuck wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 7:38 am3 x 8.5 - Let's hope he pulls a Tanev.Picker of Cherries wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 7:12 am Hey Demko, with the physical durability second only to Sami Salo, looks to be signed.
Garland - 6x6 - he worked for it.
Both with full NMC.
As for Garland, having a line driver in the middle six is important. He has a knack for good shifts when the momentum is working against the team. Puckpedia has last 3 years of his deal with a MNTC. 15 team no trade list. It’s very similar to the deal he’s on, when you think about it (compared to cap.). Funny to think it wasn’t that long ago that he was with Boeser in wanting out.

My guess would be Granlund, or we wait until September?

Or Roslovic, Dvorak, Bugstad?
If Petey continues being a malcontent next season, we are hooped. I guess we will have to rely on a healthy melon from Chytil.

They are known - flawed players with little upside.
Save the money and go with Chytil, Raty, Sasson, Mueller, or pull Joshua into the middle.
Wait for the right trade to appear as teams fall out of playoff contention.

When he is healthy, he is their second-best player. 8.5 is worth it even if it is a bit of a gamble given his injury history.rikster wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 8:05 amSalary cap is expected to rise to $104 million in the first year of Demko's new contract and $113.5 in the second year...Cornuck wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 7:38 am3 x 8.5 - Let's hope he pulls a Tanev.Picker of Cherries wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 7:12 am Hey Demko, with the physical durability second only to Sami Salo, looks to be signed.

Rumors of expansion fees north of $2 Billion ...
The team appears to have heirs in the system in Ty Young and Medvedev who if they develope as expected are 3 to 5 years away from being NHL ready?..
Agree the contract is about a health worry vs a financial worry and will go one of two ways, Demko either performs or outperfoms his new contract or he will be on LTIR ...
But that aside, it is nice to see a core player deciding to resign in Vancouver given the way the market and organization is being portrayed by the media and even some fans on this board...
Take care...
If Rossi is a RFA, would it be worth it to offer-sheet him instead and give up a first and a third?

Agreed, not to mention the value he brings to the room has some value...MJN wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 9:17 amWhen he is healthy, he is their second-best player.

I’d say no, because if they do the Canucks will win the lottery.MJN wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 9:17 amWhen he is healthy, he is their second-best player.

With risks of Demko and Chytil injury proneness, Petey not returning to form, the Canucks should not be messing around with Karma by trading away their first pick in the Gavin McKenna draft.

HW the Boeser Hater, will not be happy about this.
Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season
With all of the re-signings, and the acquisition of Kane, the Canucks are still $500K under the cap.....crazy.
I wonder if they find a trade still for a 2C.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season
The re-signings tell me that they're interested in keeping the chemistry in the room.

Certainly goes a long way in showing the "issues" were largely JTM and a tonne of Media-Driven BS.
Everyone else wants to play together, and re-signed. I would say BB took a bit of a discount to do it to.
