I suspect Dhali (the agent’s shill) was directed to work the GMs so as to up the offers for Suter as directed by Suter’s Agent (whoever that is) in return for first access to that agent’s complains in the coming season.

But I could just be suspicious and cynical :D

The Canucks don't have a lot of choices. 3 months ago they trashed their players saying they could not get good offers to trade them. Now they seemed shocked at the ask to re-up. They can re-sign Suter. They have the money. But it will drastically hurt their chances to land anyone in FA without moving a contract or two before the season starts.

I would be ok with re-uping Suter, extending Garland and Demko. I'd be fine if they move Garland and or Demko. What is apparent is that they don't have a plan C or D. One lesson, don't trash talk your own players publicly. You think they would have learned from Zadorov who said he felt disrespected by Canucks.

The goal next season has to be playoffs and a round or 2. Keep steady and don't tie your hands for the next 7-8 years with bad term contracts.

I hope mgmt goes in a different direction and goes for a guy like Jack Roslovic instead. Pretty much slim pickings now: Taveres gone, C.Giroux gone. I was thinking of N.Dowd also for the bottom 6 and even he's gone. There's J.Skinner, but I don't know; prob a tall order to ask him to carry the duties of a 2nd line C.

They might have to do the 2C position by committee, Chytil,Suter some of the young guns if they're up to it.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it

Hey Demko, with the physical durability second only to Sami Salo, looks to be signed. Lankinen’s NTCs kicked in. Silovs is doomed.
Also, I have a feeling the extend of moves today will be very underwhelming.
I’m expecting Demko and Garland signing announcements and not much else of significance.
We can all become deranged!
Maybe not as deranged, but deranged all the same.

3 x 8.5 - Let's hope he pulls a Tanev.

Garland - 6x6 - he worked for it.

Both with full NMC.

Salary cap is expected to rise to $104 million in the first year of Demko's new contract and $113.5 in the second year...

Rumors of expansion fees north of $2 Billion ...

The team appears to have heirs in the system in Ty Young and Medvedev who if they develope as expected are 3 to 5 years away from being NHL ready?..

Agree the contract is about a health worry vs a financial worry and will go one of two ways, Demko either performs or outperfoms his new contract or he will be on LTIR ...

But that aside, it is nice to see a core player deciding to resign in Vancouver given the way the market and organization is being portrayed by the media and even some fans on this board...

Take care...
