draft rights to expire at 22 (regardless of league)

Closing LTIR loophole (not sure about details)
The max contract length is also reduced to 7 years, 6 for free agents.
Sometimes I feel so ignored and unread.

At first is was rolling my eyes at an even longer season. I mean, the playoffs finishing in mid-June is a bit much.

But…..

The regular season increases by 2 games, while the pre-season is reduced to a maximum of 4 games (currently it is arbitrarily 6-8). So it’s a wash.

I’d like to see the regular season starting the 3rd Saturday of September.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Yes - same here. But then I'm thinking that aside from the 'longer' season, I think players today can handle the extra 2 games. Also, they get the extra HRR to work with, so the Union shouldn't bitch too loud. And hey - more hockey! (for better or worse). :D

Isles are listening to offers on Dobson, boi did his shine sure wear off some this season, what happened? I gather with Schaefer in their sites tomorrow, trading Dobson got that much easier. Why do the New York teams make the biggest jumps at the draft lottery? It’s rigged I tell ya.

Just a strange deal. Trent Frederics can be found every year; Trent Frederics can be signed for that cap hit (or less) on shorter term; it might be that guys with this skill set will be bargains at 3.8 in 5 years, but you are still talking about squeezing a very marginal upside if all goes well, and I don’t see a ceiling for him that’s higher than what he’s done. Nothing about his time in Edmonton indicated he’s the guy they lack.

I’ve followed Frederic since he was in the NCAA and I like the guy — but this is a head scratcher.

It gets even stranger:
First 4 years full NMC.

Years 5-6 have 10 team no trade.

Years 7-8 have 20 team no trade.
Giving a 4th line a full NMC??!!!

Tavares. Wow. I knew there would be a discount, but this is Duchene level and Tavares isn’t getting buy out money…. They probably told him not to worry, they’ve got a no work job all lined up when he’s gone.

Montreal is quietly putting together some good pieces on that team. If Slafkovsky hits another level and Hutson’s last season wasn’t a fluke, they could give some of the top teams in the East some problems.
