Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Seeing the arms race in Dallas, Colorado and to a lessor extent Winnipeg, may be best to keep the powder dry.
Avs down the middle, holy fuck.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Most good GMs understand that the Trade Deadline day is not the day to be doing business, and building a team.
We aren't a contender, and that is only time I'd want to see any TDD trades.
I'm glad they stood pat. Suter is replaceable in free agency - and likely wouldn't get more than a 3rd or at best a 2nd rd pk. HUGE!!!
They will likely re-sign Boeser. Who else will score for this team?
If they were tanking, I'd be sad they didn't sell - but they aren't. So it was a good day for Van.

There is always July 1st to spend all that cap.
Rantenan signs 8x 12/96 m
He could have gotten that in both Colorado or Carolina.

Texas does not have individual tax at the state level.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Yes they could have/ perhaps should have.... flipped Boeser and Suter. The only chance they have to get through the first round is to catch LA. A healthy Demko and if Petersson wakes the fuck up and they can slither into the second round.JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 12:16 pmMost good GMs understand that the Trade Deadline day is not the day to be doing business, and building a team.

I'm not sure if I want to see Boeser and Suter back unless the $$ make sense. There is a lack of decent forwards in UFA. They have their work cut out for them. But if Fredo is still poking his fingers in the mix at this point, I guarantee Rutherford bounces after the season. Maybe Allvin and Toccet too. Then the familia finally gives him a building or two and some blueberry farms to run. He needs to back the fuck off.

With Laughton - they've added a couple of really good pieces.
Boo them!

It was funny, no maybe sad, to hear the TSN panel erupt in cheers when the Carlo deal was announced. Could they be any more of a homer?

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Other than selling Suter and Boeser, what exactly did you expect them to be in the mix for?

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
It's not just today. Today just exemplifies it. We often fail to sell high on players, we often don't buy low either. We seem to routinely walk assets to free agency with no return. All of this because when the season is in the shitter, and every fan can see that this team doesn't have a snowball's chance of doing anything more than falling backwards into the first round for a quick exit, the owners want that playoff revenue and the team stands pat because "nothing made sense for the club".306NucksFan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 12:25 pmWhich deal are you upset about? What do you feel the team missed out on?
Suter and Brock will both leave as free agents.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

I for one am glad as hell they were not buyers. I guess now we over pay for Boeser.
