The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired Oliver Bjorkstrand, Yanni Gourde, Kyle Aucoin and a 2026 fifth-round pick in exchange for Mikey Eyssimont, first-round picks in 2026 and 2027 and a 2025 second-round pick. The Kraken retain 50% of Gourde’s contract. The Detroit Red Wings also entered the deal as a broker, retaining 50% of the remainder on Gourde’s contract and acquired a 2025 fourth-round pick from the Lightning for doing so.

I knew the Canucks weren't selling high on him:

The Penguins have acquired a 2028 fifth-round draft pick from the @SanJoseSharks
in exchange for defenseman Vincent Desharnais.
Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Rantanen back on the market? Would the Canucks do Petey for Rantanen?

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
If this type of move was made - I rather see them aim for a younger player. 23-25 to fit in Hughes' window. If you are just moving money for money (Rantenen is going to get PAID), I'd hope it wasn't for a guy who will be 29 when the season starts.

Devils adding:
Canucks should be able to get some good returns for: Soucy, Forbert and Suter. Hope they try to move on from Boeser as well as I don't think he would be worth his ask.
https://twitter.com/pierrevlebrun/statu ... BTcmGYvaggThe Devils are finalizing a deal to get pending UFA D Brian Dumoulin from the Ducks in exchange for a 2nd RD pick and a prospect.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
Rantenan and Dallas fail, so far on a contract extension. Carolina and Dallas have a deal worked subject to Dallas being able to get an agreement on a new deal. Carolina so far has only given permission for Dallas to speak to Rantenan’s agent.
The only HW the Canucks need

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
First round picks being thrown around like Candy - is Walman a 1st rd pk worthy defenseman? I know the Oiler's pick is going to be a late round one, but still. Seems steep.

If the Baldies can make the 11.6 x 8 go away they deserve the ring of honor.
Now that would be a feat.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline
I'm a bit torn on this - as I really don't think they would be able to trade that contract without taking on a lot of the cap hit for whatever team acquiesces to the risk, and is OK with giving back a good package.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:26 am If the Baldies can make the 11.6 x 8 go away they deserve the ring of honor.

Or they don't take on a major retention, and get a bag of pucks.
I am optimistic that he will turn it around. Doubts are there that he will live up to this contract - but hopefully the cap will continue to rise with the current world conditions, and it won't be a boat anchor.

Rantanen's projected cap is 13M over 8 years. I don't see the value here.theman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:37 amHear me out:JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:33 amI'm a bit torn on this - as I really don't think they would be able to trade that contract without taking on a lot of the cap hit for whatever team acquiesces to the risk, and is OK with giving back a good package.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:26 am If the Baldies can make the 11.6 x 8 go away they deserve the ring of honor.
