Just Not ready

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

What you taught your kids was applicable 20 years ago. It is not today. If you were paying attention you would have seen that the individual politicians vote the party line in the house and don’t actually represent the constituency. You now have to vote for the party and platform. I wish it were different.
I've been following politics for about 45 years, and it was true back then too, Mëds. Very few votes are deemed free votes or conscience votes. Typically, they are on a few rare social issues like gun control, MAID, death penalty, etc. But, very few MPs vote against their party for the rest of the votes. And they often only vote against the party once before they sit as indpendants.
Tciso, are you telling us Rikster led his kids astray? :wow:

How rude...
Not really. You have to look at both. I have abstained from voting once when the candidate was a complete fucktard. But, I do wish the MLA/MPs had more latitute. Free votes on everything that isn't a confidence vote, or specifically a "whipped" vote or election platform promise. But, that is a pipe dream.

Remember, Democracy is still the worst form of government there is, except for all the other forms. They are still worse.

Ian Lee at Carleton Uni schooling CBC viewers of retaliatory tariffs.
‘They’re going to be very destructive for 🇨🇦.
100 billion 🇨🇦 dollars on a 25-30 trillion dollar 🇺🇸 economy is like finding a loonie on the sidewalk and thinking you’ve made it rich.’

Jagmeet Singh says because we're in an emergency, now is not the time for an election.

He says laws must be passed and implemented first, and an election second.

Jagmeet Singh is the biggest slimeball POS in the history of Canadian politics.

I've taxed my people 25% so if you tax your people 25%, I'll raise the tax on my people to 50%.

The response should be to lower or remove existing tariffs on goods.
If only we could tax our people 25%, but then secretly refund the payment.

Some good news for Canadians - well, at least the majority of Canadians. 8-)
If you believe the polling, it will be a very close race...

I'm betting that the 5th C ( not creativity Mëds ) which is common sense will prevail and Carney pulls it out with what could be a majority depending on where traditional NDP and Green voters go...

LOL, the brilliant economist. Our economy is weak (in Montreal), our economy is strong (in Calgary).

A good example of the point made in the article;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy_MU8sEk6o

Notice how easily PP goes into his well repeated skit about JT and now Carney being responsible for everything that is wrong with the country, and contrast that to the press conference he held yesterday in response to the tariffs when he turned his blame on Trump.

He couldn’t go more than a half sentence before he had to refer to his written copy of his speech…

Such inspiration! lol

Singh has folded with his and his Party's support crumbling to dust levels and now the Liberal Leadership candidates are backing away from calling an early election.

If common sense prevails, Mark Carney and the liberals will be tossed to the curb where they belong.

You might be right...

Polling is indicating that if elected Liberal leader Carney will pull votes from NDP and Greens and pick up seats in Quebec so you'd think Singh will step back from voting non confidence and hope the Liberals don't call a snap election but rather flounder between now and October...

Should Carney go to the polls now or wait till October and give himself a few months to give voters a glimpse of how he will handle Trump and the US and what economic changes he wants to put forth?

We need an election now. We can't go on with an unelected person leading the country when we are in these difficult times.

Is there no way to legally force an election if Trudeau resigns and the replacement is NOT an elected official?

If Sing backs out and supports the liberals I hope the NDP is wiped off the map when the election is finally called.

0 seats in the house because they are a spineless party.

Someone in the liberal party will resign so carney can get in, look for a quick by-election. Not sure if there are time restrictions around by elections?
