What you taught your kids was applicable 20 years ago. It is not today. If you were paying attention you would have seen that the individual politicians vote the party line in the house and don’t actually represent the constituency. You now have to vote for the party and platform. I wish it were different.
I've been following politics for about 45 years, and it was true back then too, Mëds. Very few votes are deemed free votes or conscience votes. Typically, they are on a few rare social issues like gun control, MAID, death penalty, etc. But, very few MPs vote against their party for the rest of the votes. And they often only vote against the party once before they sit as indpendants.

Not really. You have to look at both. I have abstained from voting once when the candidate was a complete fucktard. But, I do wish the MLA/MPs had more latitute. Free votes on everything that isn't a confidence vote, or specifically a "whipped" vote or election platform promise. But, that is a pipe dream.
Remember, Democracy is still the worst form of government there is, except for all the other forms. They are still worse.

If you believe the polling, it will be a very close race...
I'm betting that the 5th C ( not creativity Mëds ) which is common sense will prevail and Carney pulls it out with what could be a majority depending on where traditional NDP and Green voters go...
Notice how easily PP goes into his well repeated skit about JT and now Carney being responsible for everything that is wrong with the country, and contrast that to the press conference he held yesterday in response to the tariffs when he turned his blame on Trump.
He couldn’t go more than a half sentence before he had to refer to his written copy of his speech…

Polling is indicating that if elected Liberal leader Carney will pull votes from NDP and Greens and pick up seats in Quebec so you'd think Singh will step back from voting non confidence and hope the Liberals don't call a snap election but rather flounder between now and October...
Should Carney go to the polls now or wait till October and give himself a few months to give voters a glimpse of how he will handle Trump and the US and what economic changes he wants to put forth?
