What did your kooch day?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Between that and the schedule will be easier for Vancouver than any of the other Canadian teams..... two of the sillier things I’ve read here recently
Alright, you take a look at CapFriendly and tell me how else Tampa could have possibly gotten under the cap. :sly:

They're $12M over right now!

And now the last chip falls - Cirelli and Coburn and a 2nd for LTIR relief from Ottawa, Gaborik and Nilsson.

Maybe some day, someone will explain to me why circumventing the cap with trades like these is fine, but the 2020 Canucks must be punished for the Luongo retirement...

Ottawa gets the second round pick back for Stepan and gets more guys. Good trade for Ottawa.

Nobody is giving Ottawa much of a chance but I see darkhorse potential. The goaltending is an unknown with Murray but if he comes in motivated watch out.

I'm still calling torontoilet and edmonton to miss the playoffs

I agree, north division is looking like the toughest top-to-bottom. There's no clear front runner, but also no clear basement-dweller.

The North Division is going to be playoff race starting at game 1 of the regular season. Injuries will play a key role

I don’t trust Ottawa’s goaltending or defence, and their forwards have too much growth to go through to be a realistic playoff threat, but they will play hard and win some games. I can see them not being last, which would be an accomplishment this season. But you never know, maybe the other teams will have so many injuries beating each other up that they can sneak in. I kind of like Ottawa. I really like Brady Tkachuk, almost as much as Matthew Tkachuk disgusts me.

Taking on LTIR players isn't cap circumvention.

Yes, if a team takes on LTIR Gabby and his $4.875M they now get to spend over the cap by that $4.875M

(if they're right up to the cap)

... but that's including that $4.875M.

A lot of people have trouble getting that straight.

Taking on these two LTIR contracts was part of the price for 'dumping' Cirelli and Coburn (also paid a 2nd).

But since Tampa was already into LTIR territory with Kuch, it doesn't make a difference to them.

(although I believe insurance only pays 80% of Gabby/Nilsson's REAL dollars, so there's that)
