I tend to think that the upcoming season maybe Edler's last. Having OEL past Edler's time here is not a bad thing. His cap hit scares me and sets the bar moving forward. But if we move on from Edler or at least re-sign him to team friendly hits then we should be able to absorb this, but, at what cost.

Scary times. Benning obviously has the green light to go all in.

OEL has played the right side when paired with Edler in international competitions.

OEL is best pals with Markstrom... so maybe Marko takes that team friendly contract that's on the table?

I have mixed feelings, I'd love to have OEL on the team but his contract scares me.

Benning will be pushing his balls around in a wheelbarrow if he can close on that rumoured deal. I'm sure it'll include the complimentary 2nd rounder that always seems to be attached but what the hell...i want the canucks to win the fuckin cup already
Yeah.... no. The future is in the next 2-10 years. Some people have no patience for a rebuild. Let the bad contracts expire, and move forward with the kids.
2 to 10 years? Isn’t that the patient Buffalo Sabres rebuild model? They are about to draft their 8th top 8 lottery pick in a row. I don’t think the Sabre fans are very happy these days. About as happy as Eichel is with the losing culture

Really don’t know what to think. I really don’t like that cap hit but part of me likes the though of him coming over while still in his prime. Really depends on what leave you obtain him.

Well perhaps we are trading Sutter and Juolevi for OEL and Arizona retains a %, like maybe 25%. Then we need to move Louie in a separate deal to make it work?

Ive reached out to my contacts to see if anyone knows wtf is going on and if there is any inside scoop on our FA. I'll let you if I hear anything

Chicken Strings, who said anything about the Buffalo Sabres? The Canucks best players are soon to be 21 and 22. I’d like to see a long competitive window for 8 or 10 years. I don’t mention the Sabres. Get your eyes checked.

Here is the radio clip that started the Brendan Dillion rumor / almost 16min. long. The interesting part comes towards the end.
Says obviously he'd love to come back to his home to play. Grew up with Pavel Bure posters and stuff.
It's just speculating, nothing more. Smart guy though. This is something that could make sense to me.

Difficult not to cringe at OEL's 8.25 for seven years taking him to 36+ .NMC, all the way..

Or reporters are doing what they do best.... creating shit by stating the obvious (JB is working the phones), the one reporter ‘allegedly’ or ‘possibly’ says something and BOOM. Instant verified rumour based on complete garbage.

If OEL waives his NMC to come here, part of the trade needs to be it stays waived. Then I think I can tolerate it.. perhaps.

Otherwise, we HAVE to say no to his contract, and OEL can have that presser where he says:
‘My contract sucks’.

If OEL waives his NMC to come here, said NMC is still in full effect post-trade.

DUH

How did you expect Dillon to answer that question?

Did you expect him to say "NO! WTF wants to play in Vancouver?!!"

MCP this is coming out of a lot of sources. This isn’t your standard rumour. There is a shitload of smoke here.

Wasn't one of the changes to the new CBA that if a player waives his NTC or MNC then he no longer can retain it on the new team?
