Welcome aboard!

I think the ranking has more to do with the guy’s perception of Gaudette’s ceiling as a prospect. 5th round pick with no ability that stands out and punches you in the face except his two-way play and tenacity despite leading the NCAA in scoring in his draft+2 year. No high-round pedigree to him like Juolevi. I can see where a talking head may come to such a conclusion.

That said, if the kid turns out to be a good 2nd/3rd line centre or a Kesler-lite, that’s sweet value for a 5th round pick. Who knows? He may have a higher ceiling than that. :D

All Pettersson needs to do is shut is down after the season and hit the gym - I think 3 or 4 months of strong gym work will lock the deal up for Pettersson to start the season he can easily gain 15 lbs of muscle in the off season.
15lbs of muscle in 4 months ? I checked, and DHA is not known to have those kinds of anabolic properties.

As for using the other things that do, there's no way that his joints and connective tissue could develop fast enough to keep up with that kind of muscle growth. The trainers would actually be increasing his risk of serious injuries.

I know that a) the Canucks really suck right now, and b) this kid may be their best chance for rapid improvement, and so c) you're all really anxious to see him ASAP, but point "b" is why it would actually be foolishly reckless to rush him.

So unless one of you has some inside information that this time the League is really serious about player safety, even in games that matter and on teams they don't like, or JB finds Pettersson an effective full-time bodyguard, better to wait.

Gonna go with a bodyguard, as his bro Emil is 176lbs at 24 years of age (according to capfriendly), so #14 Pettesson will be thin for life, therefore forget trying to make him muscular, he will just have to use his superior hockey wits and IQ to bob and weave to find open area's to score combined with his deadly shot and playmaking abilities.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I think the guy said Middlestadt's performance @ the World Juniors really shot him up the rankings. Middlestadt was lite's out and think he was tourney MVP.

Gaudette might be close, but I think some time in Utica might be good for him. Unless he has a great camp like Brockstar last year. I think Demko might be most NHL rdy with 2 years of Utica under his belt.

Delta Hockey Academy - :) - your right maybe lbs pounds is optimistic but Ty Ronning trained with a guy in New York last off season and started this season 11lbs heavier at 19 and much smaller frame, last night in Kamloops he ripped his 60th goal of the season. I’m sure on a six two frame proper diet and nutrition he could come in 10 lbs heavier and ripped. Scott Hebert does this with pros in Richmond every year. The kid has to make a solid effort for at least 10lbs!

I don't know when the SHL completes their playoffs but if Pettersson gets most of the month of April off then all of May, June, July and August to train properly then he should be able to put on 10 lb by training camp. With today's proper nutrition programs and complete weight training regiment a young man can put on up to 25 lb of lean tissue and mass in one year. Anything outside of that is usually enhanced by Vitamin S if you know what I mean.

Yes, but if he’s built like say, Linden, then the chances are also great he loses a majority of his new found mass throughout next season.

It’s a process.

At the end of the day, if he’s as elite as his numbers suggest, his hockey IQ and natural ability will dictate when he’s ready.

Hopefully he’s more Linden than Raymond and not built like uncooked spaghetti.

Just like people who have a hard time losing weight and keeping it off, it's equally hard for naturally skinny people to gain weight and keep it on.

So EP might have to try
progressive overloading. This is just a fancy way of saying that you'll need to strength train with increasingly high weight, reps, or volume during subsequent sessions. This allows muscular hypertrophy, the increase in skeletal muscles, to occur.

Hypertrophy also increases your capacity to store muscular glycogen, or glucose stored within your muscles. This glucose is stored within water, further leading to an increase in healthy weight.

And Eat More Calories/Protein/healthy fats.
