At first is was rolling my eyes at an even longer season. I mean, the playoffs finishing in mid-June is a bit much.
Yes - same here. But then I'm thinking that aside from the 'longer' season, I think players today can handle the extra 2 games. Also, they get the extra HRR to work with, so the Union shouldn't bitch too loud. And hey - more hockey! (for better or worse).Mëds wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 2:15 pm At first is was rolling my eyes at an even longer season. I mean, the playoffs finishing in mid-June is a bit much.
But…..
The regular season increases by 2 games, while the pre-season is reduced to a maximum of 4 games (currently it is arbitrarily 6-8). So it’s a wash.
I’d like to see the regular season starting the 3rd Saturday of September.

Sorry HW![]()
The Edmonton Oilers and forward Trent Frederic have reached an eight-year, $30.8 million contract extension, reports TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.
The deal carries an average annual value of $3.85 million.
Just a strange deal. Trent Frederics can be found every year; Trent Frederics can be signed for that cap hit (or less) on shorter term; it might be that guys with this skill set will be bargains at 3.8 in 5 years, but you are still talking about squeezing a very marginal upside if all goes well, and I don’t see a ceiling for him that’s higher than what he’s done. Nothing about his time in Edmonton indicated he’s the guy they lack.theman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:53 am oil make it official:

I’ve followed Frederic since he was in the NCAA and I like the guy — but this is a head scratcher.
Giving a 4th line a full NMC??!!!First 4 years full NMC.
Years 5-6 have 10 team no trade.
Years 7-8 have 20 team no trade.
Montreal is quietly putting together some good pieces on that team. If Slafkovsky hits another level and Hutson’s last season wasn’t a fluke, they could give some of the top teams in the East some problems.theman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 11:04 am Dobson trade to MTL appears to be official now:
