Oh, for sure.
That’s why I don’t think it was deliberate on Gudas’ part. I suspect Doc was there on the ice and nudged Gudas’ knee in the intended direction.
If you listen to the replay you can almost hear a ghostly voice coming out of the tv whispering... Gomez

Matthews is out for the season.
“Matthews sustained a Grade 3 MCL tear and quad contusion on March 12 during the second period of the team’s game against the Anaheim Ducks,” the statement said.

“Matthews will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks. A further update will be provided at that time. He will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.”

Ouch.

Just saw a replay with an angle from behind Gudas…..looks much more intentional.

There is also a strange shimmering visual effect on Radko’s left shoulder…..

Got another idea. I'll trade the 3 picks for a Volvo. But just from Don Dockstedter.

I had hoped, as many here did as well, that we would draft this guy in 2005.

Thought he would be a really good player but passing Hall of Famer and all time great Marcell Dionne in points for LA.

Wouldn't have guessed it.

Obviously more years and GP but 1300 points is 1300 points.

The debate over that miss has raged for decades. Unlucky Luc never got to show what may have been and who knows what may have been as he would've been in his prime in that SCF run.

Still, it's pretty unlikely he would've matched Kopitar's accomplishments relative to his position.

If I recall the knock was he hadn't played in a top tier league yet at the time. Can't recall where he had played yet but I do remember his draft year +1 he lit up the SHL

He had a great Jr. Season in Sweden...sort of meh in two SEL seasons and then cruised into the NHL with a 20 goal 60 point rookie season.

We have, to this day, never drafted a legit #1 centre.

Sedin + Kopitar + Kesler = Stanley Cup.

But yeah....who knows what Bourdon might have been....

This one has haunted me for years - but every now and then, I think, "Yeah - but then he would have been a Canuck..." - he could have made the difference in 2011 - if we still had him, etc etc... #CanuckLuck

Wait, are you suggesting Henrik wasn't a legit #1C? Are you caveating this pick because it was 2 players which elevated Henrik's play and he wouldn't have been a #1 on his own? Just confused by that statement.

What a missed opportunity. Impossible to know how Bourdon would have turned out but I remember at the time feeling pretty confident with his trajectory... didn't feel like he was going to be a bust but then again pretty unlikely he would have reached Kopitar's level - that's a pretty high standard.

Kopitar had a hell of a career - reminds of Sundin with respect to his consistency and longevity. He was never a top 5 centre offensively but he was a top 10 centre for a decade plus and perennial Selke candidate. That's a hell of a player and my god that 2011 team would have been stacked with Kopitar on this team.

Yeah...I'm to hard on Hank.

You're right rockalt.

I should have drawn the "immediate and consistent throughout impact" caveat to better portray my point.

Someone posted a collection of scouting reports on Anze from that draft. He was tagged as a lock for top 5. He was just dangling there for the Canucks and they reached past. Retards!

Igor Chernyshov gets hit in MTL - weird hit, didn't seem like a head shot, but he sure was out of it.
