Good deal for the Sharks. Why -- viewtopic.php?p=618601#p618601.

Elite offensive player already, impressive defensive game (for a 20 year old). Top 10 player in the league easy, and with the potential to be a top 10 NHL player of all time.

Grier said that they would have paid the max hit if they had to. (And honestly, if they signed that and got 8 years while that option's still available, it probably would be an even better deal for the Sharks).

Are the players not wanting to sign that long of a deal?

Seems really risky for the team.
Teams want the longest term, players (and agents) want the most money. With the cap jumping 30% in 4 years who would not want to cash in about 2032, in the prime of the career…

Yeah guess I do understand somewhat, the player has to agree to the long term deal!

And the Sharks may have had to pony up $20m plus to dip into Macklin’s UFA years.

Still getting used to the new money values being handed out with the cap increasing as was suggested.

Just crazy. But honestly still a far cry from salaries top athletes make in some other sports.

The superstars have all the leverage. The teams have no choice but to ask how much and for how long
