One thing for sure, Manny, RJ and the twins have had 3 years to assess Lekkerimaki. They know his strengths, weaknesses and potential. If they move him I’d believe it would be for the right reasons.Madcombinepilot wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 2:11 pm I think I would do Lekker and a 2nd for Wright.
I don’t think Lekker has what it takes to make it, and even as a reclamation project, write is a better asset. (And Canadian)

I would add the same could be said for Pettersson, Mancini(2 yrs) and Raty.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 3:07 pmOne thing for sure, Manny, RJ and the twins have had 3 years to assess Lekkerimaki. Will all the -24’s be here in the fall?

I don't know if all the U24's will be here in the fall.BoS wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 7:14 pmI would add the same could be said for Pettersson, Mancini(2 yrs) and Raty.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 3:07 pmOne thing for sure, Manny, RJ and the twins have had 3 years to assess Lekkerimaki. But I know that I'd view Raty, Pettersson, and Mancini differently than Sushi. Pettersson was a great pick -- most 3d rounders won't play as many games in their career as Pettersson has already played at age 22. But Pettersson *peaks* as a player you aren't building a team around. He's a 6-7 current talent playing a much bigger role than his talent; his projected peak (to me) is a 4-5 on a good team -- a physical D that anchors a third pair and who can play on a second pair to spell injuries up the line up. Raty, too, peaks as a player you aren't building a team around. Perhaps drafted as a potential 2d liner who won't reach that, he has a game that can develop into a useful bottom 6 center with size and a knack at the dot (he must learn to be a good PKer to maximize value).
Guys like the possible peak Pettersson and peak Raty are valuable to any team. Not every team signs the right guys to fill these roles, but with competent pro scouting, they aren't that difficult to find in their fully developed stage. And because they aren't "darts" that may hit a bullseye, you should always consider trades that can convert into those darts or who will better supplement the potential darts who are in the system to increase the chances they hit. And, you might consider moving on if there's some unanticipated multi-level step up in development from a KK or Mynio (unlikely) or a Mueller (very unlikely) that makes them competent enough now at the NHL level, shows they've got nothing else to learn in the AHL, and shows that their chance of being special is more than a limit approaching zero.

Ya, I was making reference more to a player being bandied about as a possible trade candidate for Wright. RJ and company would know if that is a trade that they think they come out as winners on.BoS wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 7:14 pmI would add the same could be said for Pettersson, Mancini(2 yrs) and Raty.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 3:07 pmOne thing for sure, Manny, RJ and the twins have had 3 years to assess Lekkerimaki. But yes, any player that has spent some time in Abbotsford over the last 2-3 years would be well known to our new management group. That in and of itself may serve us well. I mean it didn't take time for them to move off of Klimovich.
