Seattle is apparently open to moving their 7th OA for a top line forward.
EP is still a top line forward right?
Getter dun.

I would assume the team would jump on that opportunity but why would the Kraken? Maybe to replace the estrogen they're about to lose behind the bench?

Apparently the Canucks only talked to their top four at the combine. That would be McKenna, Stenberg, Malhotra, and Reid.
I guess trading down isn't in the picture.

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
I think that's the logical conclusion. But if their minds were made up, they'd only need to interview 3, so I guess there is still some doubt in their minds about which one they want.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 11:57 am Apparently the Canucks only talked to their top four at the combine. It's not what I'd do, but I'm under no delusion that I would be a top-10 GM in the League.
They're acting on more, and better, information than I have. There's an excellent chance that they have both correctly identified the top talents in the draft, and correctly identified a significant drop-off after the top 4.
EDIT: and/or, they've already talked to every other management team in the League, and there are no scenarios in which anyone will have a draft pick before wherever the Canucks think the drop-off starts, and is willing to give up anything the Canucks consider worthwhile for a chance to move up to #3OA.

What, Viggo didn't receive his invite in time?Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 11:57 am Apparently the Canucks only talked to their top four at the combine. That would be McKenna, Stenberg, Malhotra, and Reid.

They probably took McKenna to a family restaurant without a liquor license. Stenberg was given a cafeteria tray and lined up at Ikea. Malhotra? Home-cooked meal, son. Reid, you like sandwiches?
Butt seriously... no Verhoeff? Having they been spying on SJ?

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Sure looks like it will be Reid or Malhotra if the other 2 are gone. O need to interview any e else when you pick 3rd
The only HW the Canucks need
Re: 2026 NHL Draft
The Canucks had fruitful one on one face to face meetings with Verhoeff in January.

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
If I had to guess, I think they're taking Malhotra unless McKenna drops. I can't see them picking a defender at all

Hoping for Sundin to create a big splash by making a Swede only the second 1st overall pick in draft history...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft
Its very possible. I know the corporate line is to take the most marketable piece to lead the laffs out of the darkness (which is McKenna) but you have to wonder...Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 5:06 pm Hoping for Sundin to create a big splash by making a Swede only the second 1st overall pick in draft history...

If the Leaves pick the Swede we will get McKenna.

As senior executive adviser, hockey operations, I hope Mats will advise his GM to make this historic pick. Their fans will hate this... and we will love it.
Keep repeating yourself anew, Don.
