I’m hoping today was a good practice run for Sunday for Canada. The US was built to be a defensive powerhouse…..Finland did a good imitation for 2 periods.

Still an outrage that an elimination game between Finland and Canada can be refereed by two Canadians.
Especially when the game is decided by the calls they make. Not saying they made the wrong calls.

I can’t think of any other sport where that would be acceptable.
You should never be able to question the impartiality of the referees.

Not at all. There has been some grumbling about this but the reality is the euro refs are brutal at their jobs and not worthy of calling these games without making themselves the center of their own imaginations.

It's been fair and even throughout for the first time I can remember

Did Finland not also score a PP goal in the game?

The Fins lived and died by playing a rope-a-dope style and it almost worked but didn't.

That last call - the high stick.

If you don't call it - it's a game changer.
If you do call it - it's a game changer.

Sure, the Canadian (McKinnon?) sold it - but it was still a high stick. But if it wasn't called, how do you justify that?

Would that same call have been in a playoff game? Likely.

Hate to agree with Pronger... but...

Yeah - I heard someone (coach?) say, "This won't be Sid's last Olympic game" - implying he'd be back for one of the last 2 games.

With that said, I was happy to see Celebrini on power play 1 in the last game.

I hope Sid's in for the game in any capacity.

...as an aside Pronger has been making the Pod rounds of late and has a lot of good things to say about the game specifically and in general.

Surpsingly intellectual as well.
