Our guy Cootes decided to go back to the Dub for reasons that escape me, and his team, Seattle, recently traded him to Prince AlbertCousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 4:51 pm The CHL with all those long bus rides across frozen desolate prairie wastelands and 80+ game schedules...they must be having trouble selling that crap to these guys

Yeah...scholarship, NIL money and the overall college dynamic (how much fun you think those boys had after that outdoor game yesterday) seems a bit of a no brainer...not to mention the opportunity for a degree to fall back on....

Well yeah, all that and the fact that guys (McKenna) are getting 6 figures to attend school and play hockey now!
Penn probably made that back in that outdoor game alone.

Re: Random Hockey Shit
Curious if Romani plays another year of college, or turns pro. Iirc, he has a ridiculous skill set, but below average mobility.
Re: Random Hockey Shit
What has truly helped Romani make a jump is that his high hockey IQ finally came through in the offensive zone. He uses his IQ to be a strong playmaker with the puck, finding his teammates and making plays that few others can see happening. His passing ability is comparable to that of a qb, as he can use different touches on the puck to make certain passes.
His playmaking abilities are not the only factor that helped his game reach the next level; he has a high-level shot with a punch.
He also has strong skating abilities and a shiftiness to his game, allowing him to start plays coming through the neutral zone and further into the offensive zone as well.

At least two more years, I would think. A sixth-rounder isn't usually one and done in college.

Re: Random Hockey Shit
More likely he goes the Lockwood route and does his four years. Unless this guy shows something he hasn't to-date, I don't think he'll pull a Vesey. Even then, in that case management can trade him if they don't sign him.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Mon Feb 02, 2026 10:10 amAt least two more years, I would think. That’s an interesting scouting report, Don.
I hope he stays another year and leads the team in scoring.

Re: Random Hockey Shit
He’s a older than Lockwood when he started college. Romani was draft eligible in 2023, I think (though would be “young” for that class), didn’t get drafted until 2024, and then had a junior season. Pretty sure he was AHL eligible this season. Point is that Romani’s in a totally unique situation with the ncaa taking chl players (Lockwood was the traditional us program to college route). He is a junior by age, not a freshman.Lancer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 02, 2026 10:57 amMore likely he goes the Lockwood route and does his four years. My guess is that the team won’t care all that much if he goes back to college another year, and given that he’s pretty far off of nhl, I don’t think there’s a ton of incentive to go pro to start the time in service clock for him. But he’d get to play in Abby, I suspect, which means turning pro won’t have the worst case scenario of being assigned to the echl.
My guess? College another year then pro if the Canucks like him, either after the college season is over or the next summer.
