It's been a long time. Could you remind us all what it was that Brian Burke did?

Re: Canuck Memories
Nice thread/topic, considering the season has gone down the shiz. I have 2 fond memories. One was when I was really young during the 82 run. I just remember staying up super late to watch that marathon OT game when Nucks were playing the Hawks. I was sitting by myself in the dark watching the game, my parents and everyone else went to bed. I think Jim Nill eventually got the OT winner. I went to school the next day and I think I had sub, I remember telling her about the Nucks and the game and she was listening like a caring adult to a youngster.
I fell out of interest with the Nucks for a period, but eventually got back into it around Trev16's sophomore season. I was a more mature fan now and it was so much fun watching the 94 run. We were down 3-1 in the series vs Calgary who were the heavy favourites, but we find a way to come back with a bunch of OT goals starting with Courts14 with the big slapper down the wing in game 5, Trev16 shovels in a garbage goal in game 6 and we complete the comeback with the infamous Bure10 breakaway goal from Jeff Brown. After this series, we see the big Bure10 elbow on Churla that knocked him into a different stratosphere, Nucks beat the leaves in 5 and capped it off with one of the greatest finals in history as we played the Rangers.
Gotta say, I think the 94 team was my all time fave Nuck's team. It had a great blend of talent/skill (ie: Bure, Ronning, Courts, Gus Adams, etc) mixed with character/grit/toughness (ie: Odjick, Antoski, T.Hunter, Serge Momesso, etc). Looking back now, that team was just missing 1 or 2 star lvl centres. Just wish that team won the Cup, so we wouldn't still be sitting here empty handed and looking at another few years for another rebuild. The 2011 team was probably more talented and that run was fun too, but the 94 run still felt more magical.

27 years ago today.
As I recall Dave Gagner was a key component to the deal and Kevin Weekes was our goalie of the future.
Nathan Smith was what the 1st ended up being.

Re: Canuck Memories
Great thread!
My Canucks fandom started with the 1992 Blue Jays.
A bit of an unusual intro the Canucks but the reason is that it ignited my interest in sports. I moved to Vancouver from Toronto in 1990 but my dad hated sports, despite growing up in a small town in Ontario and playing hockey himself. I was never a fan of the leaves for that reason and the first couple of years in Vancouver I didn't pay much attention. Then the Jays made the World Series and I was hooked. Shortly after I started asking about hockey and watched every game on TV from that season onward. We didn't really have much money back then, so it took a few more years before I could go to a game. The first two games I saw live were in either '94 or '95 - both against Dallas! Been following them religiously ever since even through the low points and living in a completely different time zone... it's pretty lonely being a hockey fan in the UK, let alone a diehard Canucks fan!
One thing I always found a struggle was relating to more casual Canucks fans... I don't meet them anymore but back in Vancouver I often found it disheartening talking Canucks with friends who just clearly didn't care as much. They would talk a big game even but it would become obvious very quickly that they were exaggerating their support (as they wouldn't know basic stuff about the team's recent history). This wasn't the norm but I did run into it a fair amount.
Another memory I have is my last game in person - 2007 first round playoffs against Dallas! I showed up late to my friend's birthday party because we got tickets through work and she was pissed off but there was NO WAY I was missing a playoff game! I'm pretty sure I scored tickets to that game for our very own Brian and a friend of his too! Strange to think my first and last games were against the same team. Hope to break that trend in the future and take my boys to a game!

Re: Canuck Memories
Speaking of memories and the first game - here is the first game program - think it cursed us?

Re: Canuck Memories
I used to have a couple of boxes of those somewhere.
Maybe they reside in Mom's basement....maybe my bro has 'em.
Not sure that one was in there though.
