The loss of the weekly newspaper has had a profound impact on us as individuals and society. Once a week, we got updates on the world. They were usually a few days old, well written and fact checked, as they had time.

Now, we get information 24/7, data almost never.

My advice to my fellow news nuts is to stop following what is reported daily on idiots like Trump, and look for weekly reporting that says what happened, not rhetorical news about rhetorical press scrums. I don't follow social media as it is just 1 big soap opera designed to generate ad dollars by wasting our time, and driving people nuts.

BTW, I do follow the Canucks daily. They are my soap opera. And, russian oil refineries. I am a Pyro at heart. That's how I get my fix.

The misinformation fear mongering to justify their politics is one big pile of stinky poo yet his sheeple keep eating it up. Backwards and downwards we go, keep on trucking, convoy.

I do get 2 weekly papers, but they're small and local. Mostly school sports and news about events I read about days earlier.

I also subscribe to 3 monthly magazines that do exactly what you talk about - in-depth articles about somewhat current events.
Wired gives me tech news, NatGeo gives me stories about the world around me, and The Atlantic gives a good mix of commentary, news, culture, and some top reporting.

By reading a magazine cover to cover, I get to read about things I normally wouldn't, which is usually enlightening in some way.

Those thick ones are tough to tame. When you take them to a restaurant they finish first and start eyeing the rest of your steak whereas slim women (like Mrs Strawberry) never eat all their food which equals bonus gorging for you
