General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Nils Aman, F Arshdeep Bains and D Elias Pettersson have been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL). G Artūrs Šilovs has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) on emergency basis and G Nikita Tolopilo will join the team as a practice goaltender.
Bodies for practice this week?

And kills penalties well.

I don't love the fact the Canucks have 3 wingers signed over the next three years to contacts averaging about $3M who are best described as bottom (Hogs, Joshua, O'Connor), but of them all, O'Connor's game seems to have the highest floor because PK, d-zone awareness (from what we've seen small sample quite good), and ++ speed with hustle is valuable whether or not the game is clicking.
All 3 of those guys have played above that 3M mark before, and if all 3 play like it again during any of the next 2-3 playoff runs, people will say that they are 'necessary veteran depth' in any playoff run that happens.

Demko now week-to-week. It's getting a little too predictable.

Can’t move him until the offseason. Nobody will gamble on an injury ridden goalie mid season.

Hopefully Lankinen is reasonable with his contract ask.

I would think there isn't much of a market for Demko now, especially at 5 million. Would likely have to eat some of that if they move him which I wouldn't want to see.

Likely scenario is seeing how he does in the offseason, and let him play out his last year if he can. Sign Lankinen to a 2-3 year, 2.5-3.3 million AAV, a movable contract at any rate.

Or if Lakinen is looking for his payday, sign another veteran like Ingram, Wedgewood or Brossoit - and hope Demko stays health in his final year?

I know they are battling for a playoff spot, but I would certainly try to get Silvos into some games, to see if anything has changed there - find out what they have in him now.

Really went from goaltending as a depth, to a dearth in a hurry.

I have always taken that view that your goalies should take up no more than 10% of the cap hit.

If I were the Canucks, I would often 3 mil per for the next 3 years to Lankinen and just get that done and out of the way. This would give the Canucks time to figure out what is going on with Demko's health. If Demko can't be moved it is not because of his contract it is because of his health and teams won't believe he can get back to 100% and play anything near a full season. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Demko retires.

I'm thinking this just isn't the year.

Move Forbort, Brock and Soucy for futures at the deadline. No need to carry on with any of those 3 with what we now have in the pipeline

Re-up Lank at whatever it takes then play the wait and see approach with Demko. He's worth waiting on just in case

Resign Suter. He's been an excellent depth piece

Head into next year with some fresh blood and a hopefully healthy Petterson and Demko.
