I don’t know what Brännströmm did, but that’s a pretty steep fall from grace since November.

As much as their bottom-4 is in dire need of upgrade, I hope management doesn’t spend too much at the trade deadline trying to do so. With both Willander and D-Petey seemingly ready to contribute as early as next season, the cavalry may be on its way there.

They'll probably rent a pending-UFA top 4 dee.

If they don't bring one back in a megatrade.

I'm certain Trader Jim will do something like this, whether the timing is right or not.

He'll do something as is his nature.

(Please no Lindy type rentals.)

Lots of trade smoke from one of the most active management groups makes me think they'll pull off something more

Even after playing like wet ass they're right in the mix. If they can find their groove a bit then anything is possible

Per Noah Strang, the Vancouver Canucks have place defenceman Erik Brannstrom on waivers.
Wow, the dude can't catch a break. Drafted 15th overall, almost 300 NHL games under his belt.
I guess his defensive warts and size just doesn't work for Tocchet

I am reminded of Ballard and Vigneault.

This is part of a larger theme. I have asked:

Do modern NHL head coaches expect that kind of influence on the direction of the team? How many of them get that much say?
Whoever has the hammer, GMs should not acquire players their coach won't use, or if the coach won't use the players the GM acquires, the GM should change coaches. I suspect that capable NHL coaches are easier to find than NHL defencemen, but I might not appreciate enough of what an NHL head coach does.

Not strictly true.

Swedes as the character model for your (largely) team are not good options.

Naslund - soft choke artist
Edler - no push back, terrible goalie
Sedins - took a beating and kept on taking it
Petey - sigh

Samuelsson - good 2nd/3rd line winger
Mutt - would take any day as 2nd pair anchor

It’s all about deployment.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Hey, hey... c'mon man. Don't be explaining your logic.

This here GDHTMB wants to run with your Swede-loathing narrative. It's fun!

Branstrom on waivers to be sent to Abby makes room for Hronek.

My concern D Pete is his turn. He compensated with gap control. Worked in Sweden for him, not sure if he has corrected it.

Pre season he looked marginally better but it could be a difference maker in the jump from AHL to NHL speed.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Should have waived Juulsen but perhaps they were concerned about a certain rock collector from Greenwood storming Rogers arena with his hand picked militia wearing the grey coats.

Breezer defends a lot better in his own zone. It isn't even close. Brannstrom moves the puck but he's tine and doesn't defend.

Juulsen, I don't understand.

Noah Juulsen is a mess. Nice story for a local kid but he's out of his depth.

I have been quite happy with how safe Brisebois plays. He seems to handle the puck better than both Brainstorm and Desharnais.

Juuls to me was actually not so bad. He was moving his feet and skating pucks out of danger a fair amount I thought. There were a booboo or two sure but nothing like Vinny or the smurf
