Rogan’s not dumb. He’s brilliant at getting his guests to be interesting. That’s his secret. But his show often meanders and veers into silly hour. It’s a guest dependent listen. The stuff he does with titans of business are generally the best, and I really enjoyed his Vance interview.
Rick Beato doesn’t have a podcast, but his you tube channel is gold when he interviews musicians. He gets into lots of rock/jazz music nerd details with his guests. So if you are into playing or recording music or are listen attentively (more than background) to music made before 2000, these interviews are definitely worth watching. The rest of his content I could take or leave.
“Public intellectual” type podcasts worth checking out besides Fridman’s (which I agree is good) are Triggernometry (based in the UK) and Chris Williamson (maybe called modern wisdom?). Again, they get great guests and generally let them speak. All the shows are conversational more than interrogative.
I've had Rick Beato's youtube channel in my rotation for a while now too. Triggernometry as well, they are interesting guys, I like Rogan but man that runs on for a long time. I don't think Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap is live anymore but there's a ton of archived episodes and segments on youtube. Randy's twitter is a good follow too. Select episodes of Hot Boxin' With Mike Tyson are loads of un. Tyson basically chain smoking joints and vapes and talking to Cheech and Chong, Rogan, Dana White, even Evander Holyfield believe it or not. I tend to get bogged down in my dozens of alt geopolitics podcasts which is great fodder for me to get into arguments with my friends, Jimmy Dore is probably the most entertaining of those. Tom Luongo and his wild global economic theories are great fun although he hasn't been very active lately. That's Gold Goats and Guns.
A couple of off the beaten path hockey podcasts I have on Spotify; Agent Provocateur with Allan Walsh and Adam Wilde, and Dobber Prospects Report.
Just for being willing to have open conversation around Covid will forever be a reason to respect Joe Rogan for me.
Tom O’Neill wrote the book Chaos about the Tate murder. (Charles Manson) Give that JRE a listen, fascinating podcast and great book. I just finished it a week ago.
Podcast on music is: The Ongoing History of New Music. It’s great.

Everyone from Timbuktu to Vancouver is trading Hoglander right now.
The off-season was the best time for this, see the threads in the off-season. If he duplicated last year, good production on a good deal but how does the next contract fit? Then if traded, he’s value is down because the expected arb-influenced rfa deal won’t be much better than a ufa. If he didn’t duplicate, then he’d be a diminished asset.
The Canucks should be under no hurry to move him now. If you’ve got a player coming in who is a wing, throw him in a deal. If you need to trade him to make a deal happen for the right D, then trade him to sweeten your offer. But there’s little sense in seeking to trade him at this point. Let teams interested in him come to you.

The ability to communicate at the level of your guests while having guests from all walks of life is what seperates the best from the so so podcasters in my opinion...
There are very few podcasters who I take the time to listen to their entire shows, one of them is Steve Bartlett and Diary of a CEO which has over 1 Billion streams across the various social media channels.

I say dumb because he lets some of his guests run with absurd and often supports them. Research is lacking and could easily challenge some things.
Agree that he is good at getting his guests to talk.
Rogan is good at asking questions, with interest attached. thats how he gets them to talk.
"I find that facinating. <blah-blah> .. tell me what you know about that?"
The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.
More speculation Miller is leaving town. Now the Rangers seem to be the acquiring team.
I know Rutherford came out yesterday to state Miller won’t be traded, but I have a hard time believing this peculiar LOA from Miller isn’t meant to buy some time for the Canucks to move him.
If Miller is dealt, I can’t see a scenario where the Canucks could possibly come out on top.

Hope I’m wrong.
What would be JT’s reason for wanting out? He’s loved it here and the fans love him……
That’s the WWE event that was at Rogers the other night. Fans started chanting “JT Miller” at a completely unrelated event. I can guarantee nobody is chanting “Let’s Go Petey” at something other than a Canucks game…..and even then it’s not exactly a Canauckdom classic.
If the rumours that him and Patheticsson have issues are true, and if that why he ends up on the move, then fuck this team and its euro-pussy-hockey-loving management.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
I have a hard time believing it has anything to do with Pettersson, or any other player for that matter.
It just seems so strange that he’d up and leave the team unless he’s requested a trade out. There could be a variety of reasons, and while I don’t question his commitment to the club, taking and LOA could be a “quiet” opportunity to deal with personal affairs while management finds him a new home.

Family reasons are the only thing that makes any sort of sense.

Millers issues, whatever they are, strike me as having nothing to do with the team, teammates, coach, management, owner, city or fans. This seems more personal whether it be mental or family. A bout of depression or marital. I think it’s something mental. A bout of depression if you ask me, it can be debilitating for some.
