There needs to be a separation of powers between the executive government and the courts.
The right to pardon people distorts that. Glad we don't have it.
It fosters a culture of corruption.

Yeah Biden's excuse is that his unravelling of the plea agreement and subsequent conviction as being due to the weaponisation of the DOJ. Both parties have this beef and it's just going to increase in frequency as they're both doing it. Not sure what can be done to separate the powers more fully (besides removing the ability to pardon).

The pardon goes back to 2014, so covers Hunter's time with Burisma in Ukraine, but not as far back as Obama , is my understanding. Regardless, it's a far larger period of time than needed to cover his current convictions.

So the latest explanation I've heard from the left on this is that when Biden said he wasn't going to pardon Hunter that was re a pre-emptive pardon before the investigation happened. So he let the investigation that Republicans were pushing for happen and let the truth come out. There was no interference of the DOJ by the President. A Special Counsel was appointed.

Now that the investigation has concluded he's pardoning Hunter from the consequences of his actions, not trying to cover up anything.

I can understand this argument.

Which makes it all the more strange that he threw the DOJ under the bus when he said that "raw politics has infected this process". So he trusted the DOJ to investigate Hunter but now he doesn't trust them? I don't really get that.

Hunter's business partners are equivalent to Capone's bookkeeper.

The longer it goes, the closer and stronger ties to Joe get and much of it was during his VP days in Obama's White House.

There is still more to become public. Does Ukraine sing as part of a peace deal?

Battle in the Courts yesterday over squashing the indictments. Should Hunter remain indicted of his crimes he has yet to be convicted of?

Remember all the great praise Joe got for dropping out of the election and the George Washington comparisons? Remember the promise of keeping his legacy? Joe's reputation is the fall guy for much deeper rot within the DNC.
