Going back to the Sedin-led team, whenever I’d start off harping on a player I didn’t like they’d pot one.
Almost worked tonight.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Tolopilo with the shutout tonight. Time to bring him up? What's his waiver status?

We were definitely lacking last night

A few comments;
Does anyone see Heinen, Sherwood, Joshua, or CoHog as twenty goal scorers or do they look more like Anthony Beauvillier and Jason Dickenson?
Sherwood is Matt Cooke on a Nazi Germany train schedule.
Out skated by what was the last place team in the league.
At Xmas last year, Vancouver was in first overall, JT Miller lead the league in points, Brock Boeser lead the league in goals, Hughes was on Norris pace, and Demko was in Vezina conversations. This season, Conner Garland is the top forward point scorer, Hughes is second to Makar among defense scoring.

I would like to think pretty much everyone saw a regression coming from last year - a step back for a lot of reasons, due to health, other teams better prepared, coach's playbook getting stale etc. etc.Topper wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 7:16 am A few comments;

Not sure many saw their two top centers battling some mental issues, and their #1 goalie out with a one of a kind injury - I think they have done remarkably well. There were a lot of comments last year, that Van only made it as far as goaltending took them with Demko, that has proven to be somewhat inaccurate. Goaltending has varied wildly game to game lately and they are still above water.
Edmonton starts like hot garbage the past few years, and really has to ride the rails to get back into the playoffs. Van has avoided that for the most part - with Calgary due to fall back to earth, and an LA team that just doesn't seem "right" - I think a top 3 div. spot is theirs for the taking and hopefully by then, and healthy and mentally well roster. Who cares about individual stats. Just win FFS.

There is a thread that says otherwise. In fact some went so far as to criticize me for saying there would be regression.JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 8:02 amI would like to think pretty much everyone saw a regression coming from last year - a step back for a lot of reasons, due to health, other teams better prepared, coach's playbook getting stale etc. etc.Topper wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 7:16 am A few comments;

Re: L-GDT: Canucks at Pens - Nov 27 4:30 - Snet
Who would ever criticize you??

Last year this team had the third most points in Canucks history - the other two, by those 2010-12 juggernauts. Anyone who didn't see some form of regression would be thinking this team was better than those??
I suppose the amount of regression would be in question - I was assuming injuries would be a factor, but really didn't see it in the form of Van's four best players - for a fairly long stretch this early in the season. If you were to say that before games were played, I'd say Van would be dead last in the NHL without Demko, Miller, Boeser and a who-the-heck-knows what happened to Petey early.
Just the fact they are in a playoff spot by the old U.S. Thanksgiving marker - is a real testament to how much more depth they have, and a new set of individual career-type years in Garland, Sherwood and some unreal road goaltending by Lankinen.
Hopefully Hronek isn't out, they figure out how to play at home and Miller gets his ducks in a row - and I can see this team putting together a good run. Not sure I see them winning the division.
