How does what he says in the 'long version' conflict with statements like "immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country" and generally denigrates all people seeking asylum as insane, murderous, etc - it goes on, as you know. But why would want someone holding those views (or even pretending to) in the highest office?

He's not bombastic in one on ones, it is civil conversation. Immigration, plan is to target recent illegals with criminal records and work backwards. It isn't a round up of all and he recognizes there is a lot of work to do on Dreamers and those that have been in the US for a long term and making a decent time for themselves. He's pragmatic in one on ones.
