Most concerning thing for me with Petey is his IQ isn’t separating him from the rest like it used to. He seemed to be a step ahead of everyone on the ice, crafty, cocky and great anticipation. His skating and strength was never a problem before but now is cause his brain ain’t working like it was, I honestly think he’s just his cocky confidence. It’s all between the ears, IMO.

I think this is the consensus amongst Nuckers regarding Petey.

There's a fine line between genius and insanity and it's just a matter of time until the pendulum swings back IMHO.

Yes, I thought he had his best game of the season.

Something to build on at least.

And I though Dude had his best post in years on Monday. I hope it's something to build on, too.

I think it speaks volumes about Tocchet’s confidence level (or lack thereof) in Pettersson that he doesn’t have him with DeBrusk and Boeser on the top line when Miller is out.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

He was out there for at least one shift with them. Perhaps Tocchet wanted Petey on the line that was driving the play the most against Philly. Why break up a line that was working the best of all of them, just to replace Miller on the nominal top line.

But hey, don't let me distract you from your Petey-hate narrative. ;)

Who knows if he's out or not? And gen if he is maybe they want to see Pettersson build some chemistry with his linemates.

When a guy is on a maintenance day they don't change the entire lineup in practice. Suter and Aman are two who have regularly filled in. Why would you have Pettersson practice on the top line and then go back to the second line come game time?

When I was a young drywaller, the weight of a paycheck in my pocket made my tool belt awfully heavy. Heck, I'd even go so far as to say that I did my best work when an advance was on the line, heh. With that in mind, I don't know if I can fully comprehend what it would be like to have signed a contract promising me generational wealth to show up to a job where you're going to get punched in the face. I do believe he will come around and it seems to me that it often takes a year or two for young athletes to get used to having massive paydays. His life hasn't changed THAT much, he still has to get up and go to the rink and he also needs to redefine what it is he is chasing. If it was acknowledgement and recognition, well someone thinks he's great, they just bet the farm on him. Now its up to him to start chasing something else, I am hoping that its a cup before all those squandered paychecks catch up with me.

Interesting take MJN. There definitely could be some "what's my motivation" stuff going on with our young Peter.

Strangelove thinks it might be tortured genius issues, whereas I think he could wrestling with his sense of identity ie "I am really worthy of all this?"

He's a difficult read, our young Peter.
