It ain't just the Vey trade. It's the two other 2nds tossed in as sweeteners for overpaid average labour and a 3rd pissed away for Pedan. This doesn't even cover the two massive draft floor blunders with top 6 picks. I love how a 50th overall pick is a crapshoot but a 4th line pick like Vey is a fucking world beater.
See you guys at the draft. I'm getting tired bootfucking retards around
Jim has had three years. The team has got worse every year. The clock is ticking. Are they 18 months from starting a season where they qualify for then playoffs? I hope so. If not, bye bye Genius GM.
Well, well, well.......let's take a look at Gillis drafting again shall we?
That Ballard trade was the worst move, then a year later we lost Ehrhoff and his puck-moving and power-play ability, plus he was a really was a good engine for the transition game with the twins where they had their best season's in their NHL career with Hoffer.RoyalDude wrote:Would Roberto Macenzzi's boi - Gillis still have his job had he drafted these players instead?
2008 Draft- Norris Trophy D-man - Erik Karlsson (15th) instead of "where is he now" - Centre Hodgson at 10th.
2009 Draft - Centre Marcus Johansson (24th) instead of "where is he now" shrimp of a centre - Schroeder at 22nd?
2010 Draft - Centre's - Kuznetsov (26th), Coyle (28th) or Brock Nelson at 30th instead of trading the 25th pick for the greatest D-man in Canuck history - "where is he now" Buyout Ballard.
2011 Draft - Centre - Rackell 30th instead of the great - Niklas Jensen at 29th?
2012 Draft - D-man Brady Skjel (28th) instead of Gaunce at 26th. Hate to pick on Gaunce but the kid is borderline NHL/AHL, His ceiling is very limited. Tanner Pearson at 30th would have been nice as well.
2013 Draft - D-man - Shea Theodore at 26th instead of that bum Shrinkcarrot at 24th? Theodore is a beaut! Yeah, Gillis drafted Horvat at 10th, but in this draft, one of the strongest in years, you'd have to be a moron of GM to not land a good player
Gillis poor drafting ruined him and this team as we are witnessing now.
& this current team could really use Kuznetsov (which could have been nabbed at 25, but the Gillis era didn't draft Russians by policy), this team would be flying if we had Horvat #1C & Kuzentsov #2C....the ol' Redwings model Big Canadian heart center and a high flying Russian #2 center.
That Ballard deal also got the Canucks zero picks in the 1st three rounds that draft. With the 26th overall pick, the Capitals got Evgeny Kuznetsov, one of the breakout stars of the World Junior championship. Kuznetsov had four goals and seven assists to lead Russia to the gold medal at the WJC.
Maybe the Canucks missed opportunity there.
Gillis assertion moving that 1st+ was
It's a weak draft, and the Canucks' prospect pool is strong enough that he's comfortable being the first GM in Canucks' history to wait to draft anybody until round four. He was so cool with it that he drafted Patrick McNally in the fourth-round, a high-school student who's planning to go to Harvard after his senior year next year.
