Canucks host Dallas - Nov 20 7:00 PM - SNP, ESPN+

Post by 2Fingers »

Been a crazy rollercoaster ride for Canuck fans the past few weeks, saw some things to be excited about and other things not so much.

Which team will show up tonight?

Since this is my first game thread in a long time, hopefully I did this all correctly?

Y'know, on paper, our D corp doesn't actually look that bad... when healthy.

If the Captain misses any significant time though, different story.

Certainly nothing close to the dumpster fire D we've seen in this town over the years.

It really makes a difference to make good picks that can develop quickly enough to play regularly in the NHL, even if it's starting out in the bottom-pairing with solid vets protecting them.

I think we can say Willander is a surprise. We all thought he'd be cooking in Abby but he's been quietly impressing. I can't see him getting sent down for any reason.

On the other hand, Reichel's days seem numbered.

Draft year +2, 11th overall draft pick.

Yes, it usually does take longer for defensemen to transition to the NHL, but I wonder whether the Canucks' general level of success over the past half century hasn't depressed our expectations. Dmitriy Simashev (5 spots higher) is taking regular shifts for the Mammoths, and Sandin-Pellikka (6 spots lower) is taking regular shifts for the Red Wings.

Yes and no for me.

It's not a surprise that he is as his pre-draft scouting report suggest... an elite-skating, well-rounded modern dman, unlike his more gifted offensive, but less-defensive countryman the Pelican. His game is exactly as I had hoped.

It's a surprise that he didn't marinate very long in Abby as you suggest. Perhaps it's because he's impressed the staff so much, they couldn't not (double negative!) fast-track him. I also can't see him being sent down.

(DO NOT TRADE HIM, FA!)

Yeah, it very well could be the end of the Third Reichel for the second time in history. But this won't stop me from making this joke for a thousand years. :D

I concur.... definately thought he'd need a year in Abby
It's all about the lowered expectations

Wonder if we put L.Reichel on waivers if our forward group gets healthy again.

I personally don't think Willander should be in Van yet. I see him needing seasoning playing 20+ a night against lesser opposition to develop properly. I don't see his game as quite ready yet
