Looking forward to seeing how they bounce back after a lackluster performance.
Paying attention to Cootes. While its pretty likely that the kid's development is better served in junior and its where I am assuming he ends up, if he can skate with the pros, read the play in in the offensive and defensive zone, and shadow his mark, then he'll be one of the top 4 centers in the organization today and keeping him up may be the only acceptable injury-risk mitigating strategy the Canucks have.
I like our chances. 4-2 Canucks. Sushi, Garland, DeBrusk, EN for Kane.

Already gut check time. 4 - 1 Canucks.
Re: GDT: Blues @ Canucks Oct 13 4:30 PM PST PRIME
The return of Pius Suter.
Yep theman, with that 5 game roadie on tap a challenge already.
Blues are a decent sized team, an inch taller and 10 pounds heavier than us across the board.
Some good players on that roster.
For them a bad loss to the Wild followed by beating Calgary.
Finding their way just like us.
Best have our game faces on.
Maybe Kane can push Bennington over the edge....
SN has Demko as expected starter but I don't believe that will happen.

Nice to see the "presumed" Kane Bains switch.
They were grasping for straws giving Arshdeep second line time imo.
They're still not doing Mancini any favors sitting him with no game time.
Blues have a decent enough forward group.
Love to see Buchnevich on our club as I've mentioned in the past.

Surprised Karlsson isn't given a chance given the Blues' size and our anemic offensive showing against the oil. Change it up!
Re: GDT: Blues @ Canucks Oct 13 4:30 PM PST PRIME
I think Foote likes Bains ability to pretend to be a brick wall blocking shots on the PK. Once Bains gets broken, Karlsson will be in.
We could really use another 12/13 forward. None of Cootes, Bains or Karlsson are legit NHLers. Cootes likely stays until Blueger comes back. And then he can go stew in the minors til next year. He needs development time more than NHL time, imo.
If we play like we did against Calgary, we win.
If we play like we did against Edmonton, we pad our goalie stats, and likely lose.

There are regular NHL players on other teams that are no better, and perhaps not as good, as Cootes has been. He hasn't gotten caught out of position, and although he hasn't done anything that gets time on the highlight reel, he has (as noted by others) shown a solid awareness and been very reliable defensively away from the puck.....that is not something that is common to all players in the NHL.
Also disagree regarding "if we play like we did against Calgary". I would say that our game against Edmonton was not all that different. The Canucks started slowly and sloppily against Calgary, Demko had to make some key saves in that game as well. We started the same against Edmonton, but the Oilers are a MUCH better team than Calgary. Our 3rd period in Calgary was a better showing than in Edmonton, however our success was due as much to Calgary being a shitty team with a rookie goaltender on the second half of a back-to-back as it was to the game the boys brought to the ice.
The Canucks need to play much better, and way quicker, with much crisper passing, and with significantly better shot generation, if we want to beat any teams not named Flames, Sharks, Kraken, Predators, Sabers, or Blackhawks.
