Let's be real about that.
Superior to whom?
He's saying they are superior to Pettersson.
That's lovely. Real cutting edge shit. But where was was he when I, Rummy and IN tried to say pick Nylander instead of Kid Rock with a Haircut? We said pick little Walt instead of the dude with an aphid heart. [Mod Edit]
Where was who?

Blob, don't know what Lever's pick was in 2014 (if that's who you're referring to), but I wasn't in favour of the serious reach to grab Abby 90210.

I was probably more for Ehlers, then Nylander in that order. TBH, I did my fair share of mocking the girly-looking Nylander.

But, there were many, I'd say most of us here, who licked our chops at getting Keith's kid, only to be blindsided by this forever, unforgivable mistake.

I don't remember too many people other than myself opposing the 2016 pick.

Ancient history I guess.

The team is 8 - 8. The players have a shitload of character if not talent. The problem is the owner.

Fuck did Bg Z lay out Laughton last night.

Look at Pittsburgh. Couple under the radar signings in Mantha and Brazeau and all the old thoroughbreads have turned back the clock.

Agree.

Crosby and Malkin are motivated as fuck and have seemingly turned back the clock.

I am fully entrenched in the wish we had kept Zadorov camp.

Zadorov at $5 million per year over 6 years or M. Pettersson at $5.5 million over 6 years?

Which would you prefer? Remember, signing Zadorov wouldn’t have cost us the NYR pick to be flipped for a defenceman.

Pettersson is a better player. Not close really. But I like Big Z.

I'll take Zadorov all day.

So you’re in the camp of “I prefer the option of trading the NYR first round pick for Pettersson than signing Zadorov with no asset lost?”

That's not really what he said.

Can anyone remind me of what Pittsburgh did with the NYR first round pick? I certainly hope it wasn’t the pick used to draft Horcoffs kid Will at 24th overall. Damn he looks good, check out his NCAA highlights this year. Whoever the Penguins scouting department is they deserve accolades. Both Horcoff and Kindel look like absolute steals in 2025.

I think the Flyers ended up with that pick and took Nesbitt.

The Horcoff choice was a Kings pick.

Ahhh, ok. That is somewhat relieving. Will Horcoff looks really good, he’s a human highlight reel on Twitter right now. Kid has some nasty skills and speed and has size.

Nesbitt looks to me like bottom 6 material. Ok numbers this year in the OHL

Yes, ancient. However one tried to support the reasoning at the time, it had huge ramifications on the organization. What's done is done and cannot be undone.

Yup, we all agree it's the owner. I look at our lineup and you gotta give them props for their moxie.

What I love about Big Z is he does what he does without trying too hard. He's not like some of these psychos who run around looking for victims and seriously attempts to end their careers.

It must be nice to draft a generational talent and another HOF in the same rebuild window. And they already had hockey's most talented player ever before that. I'm cheering for Sid, Geno and Silovs to win it.
