Definitely an unreal talent. Scott Neidermayer is a pretty fair comp for the guy.
Even without looking at the numbers, when was the last time you were excited about watching a Canucks Dman, let alone a rookie?
I'd have to say Ohlund or Edler but they weren't anywhere near this kids potential.

No I'd say hes going to end up being the best dman to ever play for the canucks when its all said and done

Both of those (Edler / Ohlund) were good solid Dman with some offensive upside, but I find Hughes is just so creative and damn smart that it's really fun to watch him play.

For me it was Paul Reinhart.

Interesting article about Q.Hughes on pace to break the franchise record for most points in a season for a D-man. Bit surprised Dougie Lidster actually holds the record with 63 pts, totally forgot about that. I would have guessed Lumme, Jovo, Ohlund or Ehrhoff would hold that title. Not sure Hughes can keep the pace to do it this year, but he should be able to do in in the next few years for sure as he and our team gets better.

It looks like it'll be tuff for Hughes to knock off Makar for the Caldar though. Man, it'd be sweet to have back to back calder winners in consecutive years. Hopefully Makar gets cold and Hughes can keep his pace.

Yeah, Lid had that one season where he put up big points.

My buddy Paul Reinhart put up more pts-per-gm in both his Nuck seasons than Lid did that year though.

FUN FACT: His real name was Doug Lid but everyone called him Lidster. :drink:

Reinhart was a great player. We acquired a guy who was damaged goods. His back was fucked but man could he run a PP! He was a shell of what he was previously in Calgary but still very effective. I think the Flames threw in Bozek all for the price of a 3rd.

Later that year the Coilers gave Vancouver Doug Smith and the other Greg Adams for nothing so they could play against the Flames in the 1st round. Alberta teams pulling puppet strings in the late 80’s. Lol Canucks win the series of any other forward than Smyl has that look(s) :scowl:

Maybe Quinn, one day, will finally be the one to break Adrian Aucoin's 23 goals in a season record. isn't it?

Think we actually got a guy named Brian Bradley in the throw in. He had a great series vs Calgary in 89 as well and was a key player for us in the almost upset.

I was a fan of Oakie, so that is one record I won't mind seeing Hughes not break. *hehe* Hughes has a pretty good shot for a small guy, but not sure he can hammer it consistently from the point. He'd have to sneak into the slot to get most of his goals. Quinn's game is more about skating and passing, his goal totals were very low in the amateur leagues.

Nice one Blobbie. Pick on the injured kid. Or, did your internal scouting team/crystal ball back in 2016 already project that the kid would have a bad string of injuries? Some people have this weird disease called sympathy. It's contagious. You might try getting a dose.

There has been mention of his lack of offseason training and diet commitment being a contributing factor in his injury woes.

McIssac, taken by Detroit one spot above Woo in the 2nd round of 2018 is the lowest draft pick d-man selected to Canada's WJC team.
