D is still not good enough when it comes to crunch time

It’s a weird deal cap wise. Year one 10.4 cap hit. Then years 2-6 it’s 6.9 per. I guess it has to do with signing at Dec 1 and maybe someone can explain it. But 6.9 is market value and perhaps tells us what Boeser’s new deal will look like.

As Blob suggests, now that Nylander is signed he becomes a very good commodity to trade, for leaves they’d hope for D. If it doesn’t involve D or upgrade in net then trading him makes no sense.

Waayy early. Hainsey in anyone’s top 4 doesn’t work. Not when he’s 47

Too early to point out statistically they are 3rd in GA, but not too early to say they are eliminated in the 1st round.
Hainsey won a cup as the #2 DMan 2 years ago FYI. And Dermott is playing great and will overtake his minutes.

It's a 5.66 year deal.

BigTuna wrote: Sat Dec 01, 2018 2:04 pm Cap hit is 6.5 million per years 2-6 due to the Dec 1st signing.
Cap hit is $6,971,326 per years 2-6.

6.5 million cap hit? Huh?

$10,209,974 cap hit this year + $6,971,326 cap hit per years 2-6.

Average cap hit = $7.5M

That's a lot more than the $6M cap hit Leaves wanted.

In actual dollars Nylander pockets $45M minus around $3M for the 26 games he sat out.

($41.77M in his pocket for 5.66 seasons = $7.38M per season)

@PierreVLeBrun

leaves were at 6 x 6 at the start of the season and desperately didn’t want to go above 6.5 for the longest time, the ordeal was well worth it financially for Nylander
Leaves went to $7M, Nylander with the win...

The 1st round last season already occurred.

Only one third of this season has thus far occurred.

Hainsey is 37 now and, as you know, he completely ran out of gas last season, long before the playoffs began.

Hainsey plays the right side and Dermott the left.

Perhaps you meant Hainsey will replace Gardiner's minutes? (everyone knows they will both be gone)

Either way you're dreaming if you think Dermott will suddenly be able to handle 2-4 minutes more per night...

I mentioned this a few days ago, it only happens when a player holds out (very rare as you know).

Two weeks ago McKenzie explained it a bit:

I think there's a good chance they trade him just after the July 1, 2019 ($8.3M) bonus payment.

Dermott is playing great. What the hell are you talking about. He should be playing 2-3 more minutes easy per night.

17:48 minutes per game in 23 games this year, up from 16 minutes over 37 games last year.

18 total points in 60 NHL games... for an "offensive" defenseman!

But yeah, he's going to magically turn into a top-4 dman... CUZ YOU SAY SO!

Listen pal, if you insist on guzzling the koolaid and spouting the fantasies that follow

... I advise you remain within the safety of your circle-jerk Leaves board. :mex:

In fairness, I am usually right about these things and you are not. Doesn't Marner suck and Rielly a #4 or 5 D?
