EP is a centre so instead of looking for a 2nd line C, they looked at getting wingers instead.Raile wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:35 amI don't understand this comparison at all.2Fingers wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:18 amBecause Lindholm isn't worth that.
Debrusk 27YO, 40PTS last season, $5.5M
Lindhold 29YO, 44PTS last season, $7.75M
Canucks save over $2.2M, yes Lindholm is perceived as the better skilled player but his play has fallen in the past couple of seasons. I like Debrusk at a lower cap hit because it also means they had more cap space to sign other players.
You're comparing a winger with a center, and doing it completely in hindsight. The canucks rumored to offer lindholm that contract a month ago long before they'd have ever known if debrusk would be available

Why does it have to be hilarious?Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:20 am The piling on of Hoggy is hilarious. How many teams have a 20 goal scorer who plays mostly in the other teams end and has a set of testicles? Is he on my dream team.... he'll no, but the anger some show towards him is .... weird. I fatten him up and move him for a pick next year.,But he's GREAT value for his cheque. Even in GreenWood.
Why can't people just not like a player?
One person here piles on Hoglander and you're looping the rest of the group in.

Re: Rebooted Around the League - 23/24
Forbert is pretty rough...at best a bottom pairing dude. He gets beat wide often and takes retarded penalties. That said he hits and maybe Goote and Gonchar can mentor the retardation out of his game....seeing what they've done with the chaos giraffe gives me pause for hope
Heinen and DuBrusk just bumped the Canucks forecheck into the top 5. They're very fast and effective assets that will dramatically improve the Canucks depth.
Sherwood is a useful plumber but we have sorely lacked hitters like that. I recall he can contribute on the PK as well which is solid.
My eye says we are much weaker on defense unless they can add another piece

Re: Rebooted Around the League - 23/24
I like the forward depth added brought in to replace the departing Elias, who at 29, with a $7M x 7yr as primarily a 3rd line center for us wouldn't be good moving forward.
Sherwood replacing Laffy is an upgrade.
Maybe don't love the term for Debrusk, but speed equal to the departed Mikhy but hands are slightly(?) better. At least we'll get some homerism from his dad during some broadcasts.
Always liked Heinen the local boy.
Seems like overall upgrade all around to the forward depth now, guys that could be moved up or down to meshed with our established pairs. I just can't see any more excuses for $11.6 re: not having anybody that compliments him. It's time to step up big boy and make others better.
On the issue of defensive depth... sure, it's great not to be stuck with Zadorov's contract based on his overall history. No way Cole would have taken our offer either... but the current D depth, one injury and hoo boy. Agree with Cuz' brown eye.

I’ve never gotten the hate on for Hoglander, he’s a good value energy player with some good hands and isn’t afraid of getting dirty.

Cuz...Forbert is signed at 1x1.5
Bottom pairing indeed.
His PK analytics are excellent.
I recall us having PK issues no?
If he stays healthy value add is there.

Re: Rebooted Around the League - 23/24
Dude: Remember the JT Miller for a first, Filip Chytil and Nils Lundkvist from the Rangers you wanted? Dallas didn't qualify Lundkvist and now he's UFA. Do you think the Canucks should bite since he's free for the taking? He's small, poor defensively and comes across as a spoiled brat. What's not to like?Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 10:40 am Not having Big Z’s presence in the playoffs will hurt. I gather they are done at forward but not at D. Are there any available D-men left out there?
Re: Rebooted Around the League - 23/24
Word from Dallas.is their playoff drive took a turn for the worse when Hakanpaa went down and Lundkvist slotted in effectively creating a 5 man core versus the Avs due to lack of faith/trust.
Err to the Finn.
Also....big D proves more resilient for post season runs (see Vegas, see Florida).

Dallas re-signed Lundkvist. Kind of a shocker really. I thought he played himself off the roster and maybe out of the league ion the playoffs.
