It’s starting to look that way, if they really wanted this guy they would’ve signed him off the hop. I am now of the belief with the emergence of D-Pete and Mancini, Willander and possibly the 2025 1st is what is going to hook us that big fish down the middle, but who? Not seeing that “young” centre they so covet.

MacTavish would fit the bill.

Yeah, I was going to say that Verbeek wants to win now, fired Cronin and upping the ante.

I doubt he's moving McTavish though.

Trying to dump Zegras more like.

Laval looks to be the class of the A Megs?

Road to the Calder Cup goes through them?
Yeah, Laval has been the Best of the East this year. It's a big turnaround under former Columbus coach Pascal Vincent. It's a rocky road to the Calder Cup final, but we've handled them this year, and they didn't like it. They refused to leave the ice after their last visit to Abby.

Absolutely. It would be near impossible to pry McTavish loose. Willander won't begin to get it done.

Look at any team who needs a top RHD prospect and are holding some decent young center depth/prospects. There will surely be a trade somewhere for an outstanding D prospect like TW AND a top 15 pick.

Buffalo always comes to mind

Buffalo have Dahlin, Power and Samuelsson.....

If they see Willander as rounding out their top four for years to come see if we can finagle Byrom back our way as a secondary part of the deal.

Who better for Willander to learn from than Dahlin?

Hughes Hronek
Mpete Byram
EP2 Meyers

Mancini
Forbert

If they are trading Willander (which is likely a mistake to begin with) I hope they’d be getting an equivalent level centre prospect back at least. Why trade him for another defencemen, especially one with a Chytil like brain history - pass.

Trade someone who had a career year and will probably decline, like Sherwood, and their first for a number two centre rather than a top prospect who has not had a chance to show what he’ll be yet.

I did not suggest trading Willander for a defenseman Picker.

A centre is clearly what the entire conversation is based on.

What I said was if Buffalo were our partner, as suggested by Cuz, then maybe build a bigger deal if shit lines up.

Personally, I'd prefer to keep Tommy boy. I just feel like he's got the skating, the compete and the right-handedness that can turn into a Hronek... at worst.

Don't see the same ceiling for Vittorio.

Agreed.

But we also need a centre.
