Two. The original Pete will be dealt. They need to cut ties. Expect a big league draft day trade. Some of Petey’s contract will be retained.
Brace yourselves
Elias Pettersson and Tom Willander

Matthew Barzal and Noah Dobson

What I meant to say is DP would be a throw in at this point thus irrelevant to any deal which means I think he remains as they have worked hard to build this D and it "feels" like Willander may be the piece moved.
So I don't see DP and Willander going.

Didn't take long for the trade vacuum you were suffering with to regenerate itself.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 10:00 am Elias Pettersson and Tom Willander

I haven’t seen a better proposal.donlever wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 10:02 amDidn't take long for the trade vacuum you were suffering with to regenerate itself.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 10:00 am Elias Pettersson and Tom Willander

Latest news on Dobson’s contract situation:
Despite Dobson’s lousy season, he still has some value as a 25-year-old top-four defenseman. Maybe we’re not looking at an eight-year extension worth $10 million per any more, given his performance this season, but perhaps a 4- to 5-year deal worth $7.5 million to $8 million instead.
Barzal’s contract - Mathew Barzal is signed to a 8 year, $73,200,000 contract with a cap hit of $9,150,000 per season, currently playing for the New York Islanders. His contract was signed on October 4, 2022, and expires at the end of the 2030-31 season, when Barzal will be 34 years old.
The Canucks will be taking on more money, yes. But Dobson had a lousy season and the negotiations I imagine won’t go easy. It’s two problems for two problems (contracts and struggling players) with the Canucks taking the bigger risk financially with Willander as the enticer/sweetener.

Have to admit Chef that is a decent proposal.

If Allvin could be persuaded to part with two Swedes, it might work. Unfortunately, I don't see him parting with Swedes.

I always loved that song.

While handicapped people make handicapped faces
I have to say though, that line always made me think of Doc…..particularly in the politic threads.

It works on many levels. The Islanders would be insane not to do it. Insane.Mëds wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:10 pmAll.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 10:00 am Elias Pettersson and Tom Willander

Since we are taking on more contract(s) costs and getting older in the deal, Barzal is two years older than Pettersson and Dobson is 5 years older than Willander and coming off a not so good season, here’s the ask from the Canucks side - “we accept the deal if we swap our 2025 first round picks”. The Islanders currently have the 10th pick while the Canucks have the 15th before the lottery results. It puts us in Roger McQueen and Jake O’Brien territory. Or! Instead of the pick swap we ask for centre prospect - Callum Ritchie!

And send out a 4th so we don't retain on EP.
Not a ridiculous offer
But Megs is right, Robo don't trade no swedes.
