Is Mark Carney sliding towards Fascism?

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Sounds like a lot of typical political BS with no substance behind it. Smith looks good for her party and Carney looks good in Alberta yet from my understanding there is no real plan to build the new pipeline. Even if there is one, there is no private sector coming in to fund this (do I sound like Eby)?

Per, sorry to hear of your family tragedy....

I recently got my flu/Covid shot so no confusion where I land on the issue of vaccines..

Rather than debating vaccines, I'd just encourage anyone interested to read John M Barry's book entitled The Great Influenza about the 1918 pandemic...

Regarding the Carney/Smith announcement expected this week being typical political BS, I think Eby's response is a CYA in that most of the pundits that I listen to feel that if a poll was taken today the majority of British Columbians would be in support ....

Financing is always the most critical aspect of any type of project and if the private sector doesn't see a business case for it, then Smith and Alberta need to present ways to aliviate those concerns...

But I think it needs to happen soon as more and more the global economies are moving to renewable energy...

For example, Saudi Arabia with the second largest proven oil reserves is on a massive project to have over half of its electrical power come from renewables by 2030 which is crazy when you think that just 5 years ago it had no solar power...

I'm sure that behind the scenes, Smith has been talking to prospective parties with regards to building the pipe line. No private firm or consortium is going to come out and publicly state that they are going to take the project on, until the framework which will facilitate such a project is in place. After today's announcement, I'm sure a proponent or a couple of proponents will come forward in the next few months.

Hands down the best thing that Carney has accomplished is signing a nothing-burger agreement with Alberta that resulted in Stephen Gilbeault resigning from his cabinet position.

That sleazebag was Justin Turdeau's little Conky puppet whispering sweet nothings in his ear while he sobbed about how mean Harper was

It would have been better if he also resigned from government completely. Canada doesn't need an eco-terrorist in government.

I agree. Hes only back-slithering into the shadows of caucus until he can rear his ugly head again when another corn encrusted turd floats back to the top of the liberal party of Canada leadership

I would have predicted that the party that legalized cannabis would have more credibility with you.

Didn't matter to you because you already had a reliable supply and no reason to expect any interaction with law enforcement ?

I appreciate the convenience but the liberals didn't do it to make the stoners happy. It was pandering for votes and probably why they were able to flush Harper.

I will admit I'm much more intrigued with Carney running things than any liberal leader since maybe Cretien. He strikes me as more of a centralist than left leaning which is right where I choose to throw my votes.

My guy - this is a bit of a dog whistle.

I am fairly sure I own more guns than anyone on this GDHTMB, but in no way do I fear the GOV'MENT taking them away.

This is more about being a giant waste of tax payer funds.

Why not just re-do the legislation, and add the ones they don't want the public to have, to prohibited. I own both restricted and non, and dont see any need for prohibited.

And consult the manufacturers. They can make changes easily, to ensure kids aren't able to gun down more than one or two of their friends, not 10 or 20.
