They both go into the corner, lose the puck, but come out with matching manicures.

Honestly, if we assume sASSon is an AHLer and we have a forward on IR (Chytil??), and the Maki licker stays on the AHL, we have 3 spots available.
Why not sign Laine , Kurachev and Tolvanen? They probably are an ok 3rd line, and we corner the market on available forwards. The scarcity alone should boost the returns we get on trades.
(It might destroy whatever team chemistry we have if we bring in 3 more trading chips, but wtf, right?)

You want the team to play the way that you want the team to play when they are ready to be successful playing that way. That's how you develop. You want the players you bring in to emulate the kind of character you want your team to have. That's how you build a culture.
If Laine doesn't do this but scores 35 goals in a rebound season and returns a 2d at the deadline, that's not success.

I'd consider signing Tolvanen....Tciso wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2026 9:15 am Honestly, if we assume sASSon is an AHLer and we have a forward on IR (Chytil??), and the Maki licker stays on the AHL, we have 3 spots available.

But (with the chemistry caveat applied) I think I'd prefer the Canucks look for options that have the potential for assets on the way in and the way out. The guys teams will move for sweeteners to solve cap issues but can turn their negative value into positive value at the deadline.

I dont think we need to sign anyone. This is the first year there has not been 1/2 (or more) of the team flipped in about a decade.
The rot in the dressing room is gone, 3-4 changeovers a year is the way to get some chemistry back in the locker-room.
