2026 FIFA World Cup

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Harry Kane is definitely quality but they need to feed him. England had numerous crosses and corners but the quality was so poor I don't think any of them found Kane for the first 60 minutes. I thought Spence had a great game and Gordon looked creative when he subbed in. Everyone else just seemed to pass around the perimeter.

Maroc played bad so far in the 1st. Canada has a real chance to beat them.

They do but I'm worried the ref will decide this game.

Amazing last night that Cape Verde took Argentina to overtime!
Less than 500,000 people on some windswept islands in the middle of nowhere, off the African coast.
A 40 year old volleyball youth coach in goal, and still undefeated in regulation in world cup games.
Argentina eventually sent them packing, but the guys on the Cap Verde team deserve some kind of medal.
I guess they’ll never have to pay for beer again in their home country.

Cabo Verde was legendary, coming back twice to send it to ot. Never thought of this could happen.
Maroc one nice play and 1:0, Canada is running their asses off but quality is missing.

No shame in losing to Morocco.
They’re ranked in the top ten and took out the Netherlands as well.

Well done, Canada! You had a good run.

Yeah Per, good run...obviously the best ever.

We were never winning that match.

Hopefully bodes well for the future of the game in Canada.

Possibly continuing rising costs and facility availability in other sports (cough cough...hockey) combined with this success might push more youth and enhanced training/coaching into the game.

Would have been nice if Davies was 100% available.

With Bayerns recent signing of Nathaniel Brown, Alphonsos role there may be in jeopardy based on his continuing injury issues.

Proud the mens team, they went further that I expected.

They have some glairing weakness IMO upfront. They really lack a true striker and I do no think it is David, other than 1 game he was basically invisible.

Also more work on the CK is needed, so many today and I didn't see any that were real chance for the team.

What is exciting is that there is some talent on the team and hopefully they continue to develop the youth and future stars. These world cups will get more youth involved which means more star players.

Expanding to 48 teams was interesting to say the least.

How long until the Sedin kid graduates to the senior team?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Wouldn't that be a kick in the ass if a soccer playing Sedin won Canada some sort of championship in soccer (however unlikely...)

Nah. He’s born here. He’s Canadian, not Swedish.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Yeah Canada just doesn't have the same quality as the top-level teams. They did well to drive the play up the pitch and get in crosses and corners. Maybe a Harry Kane-type player would have made a difference, but it's still one-dimensional football. There were no shots from outside the box like the Maroc goal. And when they did get in the box they seemed to run out of ideas. Lack of skill playing one-touch football in tight spaces. The same thing Davies was frustrated with in his one outing, as I commented earlier.

Mëds needs to go on journey of self discovery to Sweden during midsommer. Enjoy some surstromming, get hammered on aquavit, eat lingonberry ice cream, lay with a young fair haired maiden... he'll gain a greater understanding for our benevolent friends from over there and learn to celebrate their unique and peaceful culture

(Oh and he'll see they are just as rabid about hockey as Canadians)
