How did he cherry pick? Are there quotes and links that are contrarian to his point that he omitted?

No superstar player would stick around in this shitshow. It's the worst-run franchise in the league. What superstar player is going to waste his prime years circling the toilet bowl? The answer is no one.

People need to direct their ire at the obvious target, Mr. Aquilini and his Two Stooges. It gets painful to even talk about this stuff...

Hear, hear.

The important thing we all need to remember is Quinn didn't have to say a thing and walked out of here a year from now scot-free, which he had the right to do.

Whatever you think of him, let's be thankful that didn't happened. If he quit, if he's selfish, whatever...he did us a massive favour. This story could've ended much much worse for us.

Agreed. He did us a solid. Two things can be true at once. I’m fine with not liking any player who does not want to play for the Canucks. His contract was structured to take him to FA. I believe he always had one foot out the door.

I give the guy props for the great talent he is. I give him props for letting us know ahead of time. I still don’t like him for not wanting to play here. Emotional? Ya. He quit on this city. Fuck him.

They bridged Hughes and locked up Scooter long-term. Scooter was always their guy; they identified Scooter, not Hughes, as their franchise player. He's going to be a top-three center in the league for a long time, so you get him signed for max term, and you build your franchise around him. They didn't have the same belief in Quinn Hughes that they had in Scooter.

Dunning-Kruger at its very best.

This is also true. I will give him his due for giving management fair notice that it wasn't going to happen. He didn't pull a Marner. I'll give him his credit, there.

Not strictly true. Hughes signed a 6 year deal after his ELC. Scooter signed a 3 year bridge. That's on the agent and the player as much as the team.

I don't think his foot was out the door until they committed to Pettersson with the $11.6M contract. At that point Hughes had been teammates with a guy who had a questionable commitment to preparation and fitness, was known to be difficult to coach and work with, had rebuffed teammates attempts to work together, and was not at all carrying the load he was now being paid to carry.

I think there's a chance he was still willing to stick after they lost to the Oilers in the 2nd round.....but that evaporated when he came back the following season and the new $11.6M player had started the off-season by announcing a phantom injury and then showed up unprepared for camp.

You look at his comments this week about JT and how when he was gone it fractured things.....that speaks volumes. Management stuck with Scooter (probably ownership's decision) and it was over.

Pull a Marner???

The leaves decided they wouldn't be offering Mitch a new deal due to cap contraints.....he just said Fuck You when they wanted to trade him at the deadline.

And he did agree to a sign and trade.

What is the date on the quotes I offered Lancer? When did management decide to ride a scooter to the promised land? When did Tocchet decide these bosses weren't worth the effort?

You don't need to watch a game to read veteran players say they'd be happy to be traded at the deadline.

Please tell me what earth shattering highlights I've missed by not watching. I've read I may have missed a shot block or two, but not by a goalie.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Right. And you don't need to read the book when you can just watch the movie.

Veteran players always want to move on from teams that aren't in contention. Ray Bourque who?

I miss Blob on days like today.
