During my long stroll today, a thought came up... I wonder if EP's contract will turn into one of the league's all-time worst boat anchors in history?

It may still work out for him, but if I were him and his agent, I'd do everything in my power to find a new home. No matter what he does in the next few years here, there's no way to return to golden boy status... not with where this team is at for the foreseeable future.

There's still a chance for him to salvage his career hiding behind a deep team again while in his prime, like he benefited here having Bo, Miller, Hughes driving the play and taking all of the tough assignments.

For everyone involved, this is the best resolution to an ignominious end. Dragging it out doesn't help either side.

So does tank commander Foote return after the Olympics? Did he tank too well?

I heard the discussion this morning and the concern being the suck doing permanent damage to the younguns development

If Foote gets canned before the end of the season that would be a bit of an injustice. Doesn't even get the benefit of a full season to show himself. Doubtful that Tocchet could have done appreciably better - if anything he would have the team hovering just below the wild card spot squeezing every last ounce out of that roster while giving management some hope to deliver to ownership. Putting Foote in charge just exposed how thin this roster really is, even with Quinn in the room. If anything, people should be thanking Foote for accepting early on where the team is at and just making the best of it.

Besides, how many coaches does the organization want to go through after four coaches in five years? Damaging the youngsters with constant losing is always a risk when tanking/rebuilding, and that's not always on the coaching staff either. We'll see how well Foote & Co. manage to mitigate the negative effects of tanking on the youngsters.

Foote will not likely be the coach when it comes time for the new core to compete, but he may be the coach that gets them there from here. Perhaps a signal from management to Foote that development takes precedence over wins, and just manage the effects of the losing will give Foote the freedom of maneuver to run the bench accordingly. He does have a reputedly good track record of working with kids from his days in Kelowna, which is something he can tap into. It will likely come in handy with the influx of kids coming into an already young roster.

This edition of your Vancouver Canucks might end up with less home wins than the inaugural Vancouver Grizzlies. Subjectively, this could be the worst team in franchise history.

The HGs finally smile upon us, but still leaves two inept hairless fogies in charge. It can never be easy.

At least it's a good year for this to happen - lottery day will be the highlight of the season.

You do realize we could mathematically still finish first overall in the standings. All we have to do is win out the next 29 games.

But seriously, I cannot believe how far back we are of, well, everybody.

Get on with the trades. I guess things wont heat up until after the Olympics.

I know what you mean, just get on with the trades! Like seriously, can’t those agents work faster and make them happen?

53% chance at 2nd

And 17% chance at 3rd pick

Or thereabouts…

I think it's 26.3% at 1st, 19.3% second, 54.4% third.
