We're All Doomed!™ (the Conquest, War, Famine, and Death Thread)

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

The European Parliament is supposed to vote on it next week or so, and right now no one thinks it will pass.
Which means the concessions Trump got from van der Leyen will not go into effect.
EU leaders must feel ill-equipped to handle this situation. All their political skills and diplomatic experience are useless when confronted by Trump's constant course changing. At what point do they throw up their hands and just decide to wait it out?
Great discussion between heavy weight economists about Trump’s use of tariffs as leverage:

Basic conclusion, if a deal signed in July is torn up because Trump suddenly feels like it, the message sent and received is that the USA cannot be trusted in negotiations. Their word has no value. So why bend for these threats? Even if we agree to give away Greenland in exchange for peace and trade, next morning Trump will renege on that treaty as well - because he feels like it.

So striking deals with this administration is utterly useless. Better to just stick to your guns, answer trade impediments with trade impediments and take your business elsewhere. I hear the Chinese are game.

Hopefully not that long.

1) Trump is old and in poor health.

2) If the midterms are actually held, the republicans will probably lose both houses, making Trump a lame duck.

3) Republicans in congress are beginning to distance themselves from Trump. In part because of 2) above.

Republican senator Don Bacon is even suggesting that if Trump uses military force against Denmark, he may get impeached by his own party.
"There's so many Republicans mad about this," Bacon told the newspaper. "If he went through with the threats, I think it would be the end of his presidency."

Like it or not, it's hard to ignore the chaos going on around us due to the antics of one man.

Blathering on about stealing Greeenland is a fairly major story in world affairs. I wish we didn't have to concern ourselves with this, but it's a topic worth covering in a hockey board. ;)

Yeah...it always comes back to link after link about Trump Bad Man.

Feels like the last few years with Biden from a past user.

Or an uncontrollable link inclusion process from another.

Be careful of squawking parrot syndrome.

We've seen it here before....

It's not just Trump Bad Man. Anyone who has self-directed investments has got to be intensely interested in where this is all going.
