My Truck...

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

They are remarkably affordable used compared everything except dodge. I have been scouring around looking for red flags (like the Ford cam phasers or the GM fuel management debacles) but have only found positives except for old Blobert. He was having issues if I recall. I was going to get his take on them and what years to avoid etc. As far as I can tell anything after around 2010-2011 seem to be solid

Mëds have you had any concerns or has it been pretty smooth sailing?

That era of Titan is still the OG. They didn't change from 2005 until 2016, by 2010 they were fairly bulletproof.

When the new Titans hit in 2016.5 the price of the OG dropped, then there was the addition of a Cummins option etc in their XD line. Another update in 2019 or something iirc. In 2023 Nissan announced they were discontinuing the Titan in Canada as new sales weren't high enough. That dropped the price of the OG's considerably.....or at least I noticed the prices dropped then.

The biggest draw back to the OG Titan is the fuel economy compared to most other brands of the era.

Issues I've had......

At 100,000km I took it in for a full service and inspection at Nissan. I had owned the truck for 9 years at that point.

1. Driver's side front coil was broken, but just the tail of it and the spring was still in the cup. I hadn't even noticed.
2. Shocks were toast (as I said) so I replaced them.
3. My AC quit in 2020, I had it fixed at a local shop but it quit again.....I don't drive enough in hot weather to bother fixing it.
4. Muffler pipe rusted and fell off (it is super wet in the pacific NW so not going to be an issue where you live).
5. The cab fogs up suuuuuper easily in wet/cold weather. I've had friends ask if I had a towel under the seat that was soaked with water because of how bad it is. Sometimes it struggles to keep up with 4 people in the truck.....but see issue 3 and I think it relates eh wot.

That's it. 13 years and 108,000km on it.....I have no complaints.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

You only put on 108k in 13 years including driving across Canada???

That's impressive. (Thx for summary btw)

Lever that SUV is a fancy station wagon without the wood paneling and you're not even getting the rear facing bench.

Does it even have ashtrays or have we lost all common sense nowadays???

First time in a good decade I don’t have a truck, grabbed a Donny special for the next few years to lease and lower payments as part of our business plan!

But do have this (as mentioned in another thread) for sunny days:

Took a good 8 years to restore for a variety of reasons but sure is fun to rip around in!

That Bug is great - well done... but that garage/shop, she's a thing of beauty. So organized!

Ha, the garage isn't mine, it's the guy that restored it! Wish I could take credit, helped with ideas but he did all the hard work.

My garage is still decently organized but not to that degree. A little full at the moment!

As long as it's not double fat exhaust tips, shouldn't pique the interest of Cousin Porcupine.

6V?

Whenever I see something like this i ask, WHY?

When does the Baja Bug body and supercharged V6 go in?

Just yankin' your chain, I'm sure your daughter's love it. I salute you, Seig Heil.

Bad memories. My brother's '71 with a canoe strapped on top getting blown around the hwy on our way to Bowron Lakes. Doing the brakes on a Uni classmates '64 and having to use torches and 8' cheater bars to break the lug nuts. The nightly shenanigans of me and my buddies carrying the bug of the neighbour cop living across the street and "reparking it" somewhere else (he thought it was a funny as we did).

Back in the day a buddy and I used to build hot rods, rebuilt a 426 wedge from a '64 Fury that ran mid 10's and put it in a '69 Roadrunner, sold that a did up a 340 in a '71 SuperBee, sold that and built a '68 Firechicken SB350.... and then there were my motorcycles.

Getting the thread back on track.

Out on a recent job and then with 1850lbs in the back of the Tacoma, put 30psi in the airbags and it rode nice but the drive train noticed the weight.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

No converted to 12V, have to with the airride suspension and compressor.

Why, essentially its fun as hell! Get looks from everyone and everyone has a VW story!

Seeing old cars get new lives is pretty cool, not going to see it happen much anymore. It's just getting too costly!

No shit, local mechanic here has been posting warnings for folks. Apparently the new Kia/Hyundai require a mechanics log in code for several of the routine service items.

I do as much of the routine stuff as I can here at home.

Friend here has a Foxbody he put a 351 clevland stroked to 393 with nitros.

Another friend in Spokane was given an offer he couldn't refuse on his 04' Cobra, superchagred and nitros. Built a Foxbody much like my friend here's with his son. Now he's building a Ford Fairmont wagon, puke green with fake wood paneling (hey, its a foxbody though), dumping in a stroked 351 clevland as a complete sleeper.

Local car club runs races just out of town on an old straight stretch.

Go fasters are fun!
