The rules say the player has to make a reasonable effort to avoid contact when outside the crease. There was no effort made to avoid…..just the opposite. Even tho he was swinging at the puck, a player is responsible for his stick (see high sticking and tripping).

The Flames won't be buyers. They will trade Andersson before the trade deadline, no matter what. So, I don't see them having much success after that. Who knows - maybe they'll trade Coleman and Kadri also. They could easily drop back down to the bottom of the league. I suspect they will end up picking between 5th and 10th overall, which is not what I want.
