Its kind of a pick your poison at this point. Petey’s is an oddball making too much. Tuch isnt an oddball and not making as much but a little older

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
I mean, comparatively speaking, 29yo Tuch getting $9M x 7 is a better contract than 28yo Boeser's $7.25M x 7.
Clearly, Tuch is a better player at this stage.
At least quietly find out which vets are willing to waive and which will go down with this ship, if they haven't already.
I'm not saying Tuch's ask is worth us trying to contort ourselves trying to get him. 7 yrs is risky business.
But if there's an opportunity to clear the old stench of the old core (of course I'm talking about the ET), I'm all for finding ways to not let this drag on for more years. Let's get a new group of young drivers and slap that N on the bus.

Or you do Pettersson for Byram and Quinn. Their two contracts combined come to around $10 million.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Yeah I think Tuch at 70 million until age 37 (he would be signing the deal at 30 Hank) is a challenging signing.
Having said that if it is a swap for EP's 11.6 for the next 7 I could likely live with it.
Not sure why EP would be waiving to go to Buffalo.
He and Dahlin surely talk.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Well ya, a few things would have to happen...
The HGs will have to help our expansion cousins go on a heater of epic proportions and change a bit of the Sabres stench. Kekk becomes a buyer instead of the usual end of season discount, close-out sales.
We F'n TANK (please stop tormenting us HGs!) and the Baldies re-adjusts back to the R word and maybe the Alien is willing to get a fresh start, like QH did.
The media vultures that carved up the old turkeys now only have this scrawny beast to stab with their steely knives and make it so uncomfortable with even more of these recent rumours that the dude wants to scoot his way out of this media circus.
These kind of things usually makes Canucks want to be ex-Canucks. They'll waive to Winterpeg if it means more winning.
I know, more tossing spaghetti at walls...

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Neither do I.
Maybe that's just his ask in Buffalo because he wants out.
He will be 30 next season. I doubt any team goes more than $8M AAV for him in free agency unless it's on a 3 year deal.
I'd give him $8M x 5. He's had two seasons with more than 60 points, but with cap inflation I'd say he's worth that, but I wouldn't go beyond 5 years on him.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Just realized there was a bunch of posts after the one I replied to saying pretty much the same thing.

I dunno. Maybe just a change of scenery if the Canucks don't want him?
With his wife in Cali though, I can't see it.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
The L.A. angle is an interesting one especially with Kopitar hanging it up at season’s end. Kopitar makes $7 million per year, the Kings will need some centre help after he’s gone with just Byfield, who has been playing right wing mostly, Helenius and Turcotte. I mean, that’s really thin especially with Kopitar hitting the pastures after this season. Considering where Peteys wife lives it’s a fairly good fit. I could’nt care less if he goes to a division rival. They also just cleared Danaults $5.5 million per year contract which expires after next season, receiving a 2nd rd pick in 2026 in return from Montreal. This trade could be an indication that the Kings are working on something bigger to follow. Danault is a centre. With Danaults $5.5 million removed and their other centre - Kopitars $7 removed at season’s end, this gives the Kings some play money to add a big money centre man. Hmmmm, off to L.A. you go Petey, getterdun

I think they'll give EP40 the full season before deciding on whether to trade him or not.
L.A. does seem like a good spot though.

They are rather thin down the middle, especially when considering Kopitar’s pending skate hanging. The trading of centre Danault is interesting, what is the Great Kenny Holland up to, him and fellow Senior citizen - Jim Rutherford need to chin wag over tea and crumpets with blankets over their knees.. They have no centres in the pipeline worth a grain of salt. Their top prospect- Greentree is a right winger. Holland is hooped down the middle. Hooped!!

EP to LA to replace Kopitar.
.....a novel concept.

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
I bet you could stretch that novel into an after school movie.
But, wtf is LA doing? Are they rebuilding, or retooling? They are old as fuck already. I'd do Byfield and a 1st for EP40
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!
Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
So a local beat reporter who looks at everything the way some here do, thinks Hughes got tired of EP's lack of training and that factored into his decision to quit on the team?
Even though he came into camp in great shape and stronger?
And some might argue had a better season up until his injury than Hughes was having going up against the oppositions top line and having a Selke type season...All without a second line centre to play behind him...
Hughes and EP drifted apart?? Is this some kind of bromance that went sour? ... Maybe Hughes was upset that Petey left him for his wife and that's why he quit on the team?
One guy is a hockey nerd still single and the other guy met a girl and got married is somehow a sign of distance between 2 players in a negative way?
Only 4 guys were invited or had the time to attend the Quitter's little going away party, which means at least 18 former teamates didn't attend including Demko which says more about Quinn than the 18 but the writer wants to paint this as a negative against Petey?
This ariticle reads better than a bad copy of National Enquirer and is just another attempt to bring more National attention to the team and create another controversy to create clicks....
The team doesn't have a legit number 1 centre and EP is the leading scorer on the team in spite of being injured and we want to buy him out or give him away for a soon to be UFA winger?
Can't make this stuff up....
