Re: Hughes Traded Thread
Halford and Brough are tearing this up right now. LMAO.
It was Brough that asked Allvin the hard questions about culture.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: Hughes Traded Thread
OK, initial shock is over.
If Hughes wanted out, then we did 'ok'..
Basically 3 1st round picks and Rossi.
Let the retool begin!
A quick look at the Minny boards shows they aren't happy giving all that up for a guy "who wants to play with his brothers ".

Shouldn't have traded his buddy Miller.

Re: Hughes Traded Thread
I think if you looked carefully at that ASG photo, they were all staying.
Then somebody's ego grew massively for his britches. Then somebody took a 6 month vacation in-season. Then...
I fuckin' guar-an-tee everybody in that photo (minus 1) was Team Miller.
I'll stay on the hill all day to fight.

Now Minny fans can deal with the toxic media speculation-driven narrative.
Silver lining-hunting, but at least we won't have to deal with that particular media shit-show.

Re: Hughes Traded Thread
In hindsight, they should have traded the whole core - Petey included and foremost.
We may never know what transpired in that room and how it all went so wrong, but it's clear that with the likely exception of Hughes (who's been trying but hasn't been scoring like he used to) none of that core will reach the heights of 23-24. Too bad management didn't see it until too late. If they get fired, fire them for that.

Re: Hughes Traded Thread
Yup. I bet a certain ex-ex-Captain would have been more than happy to continue scoring 30+ in the bumper position too.
Either way, center depth secured in the short-term even as they age out, without breaking the bank. Don't have to overpay bottom-6 guys $3M/yr to pretend to be a top-6 guy.
COY stays, Norris Dman stays, maybe have an elite winger to boot from a trade.
Wouldn't be dead last in the league for sure.
What? You think the media won't now there are hardly any targets left? Did you forget Halford or Brough took out the carving knife with an article only 4 or 5 days after the trade? That smirk didn't last long.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 7:28 pm Now we can get back to our regular Petey bashing programming

I don't think that ex-ex-Captain scores 30 from the bumper without Miller on the same PP unit.Carl Yagro wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 7:31 pmYup. I bet a certain ex-ex-Captain would have been more than happy to continue scoring 30+ in the bumper position too.

Re: Hughes Traded Thread
Sorry, was it not clear that I meant if they kept the two old guys and moved the young one for a winger?
BumperBo did indeed benefit from play-drivers Miller and Hughes on the PP. As did ClappyPete and TippyKuz. Cannot be denied.
Also, 46g Brock... minus 6 for goalie interference. Never was even 30g and never will be again. Undeniable facts.
And for those with the 20/20 hindsight. Compare the 30yo 1C JTM with the 30yo 2C Bo2Max. It's only fair as to why they made the right choice. Don't bring up one of the best seasons in franchise history if you don't want to.

I didn't say "old", I said too old to expect much further development.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 5:54 pm Rossi is old? Drafted in 2020, same draft as Lafreniere, Byfield, Stutzle. Is that old?
