It looked like this group was finally putting it together and making positive steps towards some kind of contention window.
Yep. All it takes is a headcase or two (affecting performance) to derail something good.

Im not referring to his body language or the expression on his face, I’m referring to his game this year in which it hasn’t been “consistently” what we are used to from Quinn, but as you said, hopefully it has something to do with an injury nag and not some kind of “frustration” with the “organization”.

He's done with the Canuck curse. He's not giving that extra 5% any longer

If you can secure top end 3-4 building blocks out of the trade then you have to pull the trigger. Hate to say it but this group will never become what is needed to win a championship. Might as well move out the assets to facilitate the rebirth.

Yes, but
Mëds wrote: Thu Nov 06, 2025 1:01 pm But there is a pattern.....it is with ownership. We sum it up with our "mushy middle", "good enough", comments. But it comes down to them replacing managers when the results don't come fast enough (even though their apparent direct meddling is half the reason for the failures).
Chef Boi RD wrote: Thu Nov 06, 2025 1:38 pm It’s the owners. Nothing seems to change per management group. Same old same old. I imagine we will be buyers this trade deadline as a desparation move to keep Quinn enthusiastic about staying here in which in the end after all is said and done it will be another wrong approach taken.
So there's no way the Little Eagles are signing off on a real rebuild.

I fear we are in the position of Ballard-era Leaf fans. So the only potential thread of real interest is "Canucks sale rumour watch".

It’s a business to the Aqualini’s bottom line. It’s season by season. Their mantra is to tease the client base ‘with a winner’ to get butts into seats to get the cash registers singing. They are loathed to considering a rebuild because to these short term thinking cowards that just means to them - less people coming to the games to watch a lousy product.

When Linden was once asked on talk radio once “why not do a rebuild”? He did not want to get into it and only responded with “we can’t”, kept repeating, “we can’t”. As Dave Nonis once said, “the owners have to sign off on a rebuild, that’s not managements decision to go forth on that, you need permission”

The team is obviously stuck in no man’s land while the Western Conference is in a transitional period where by teams that have been rebuilding the last 3-4 years are about to pass us on the Autobahn in our Volkswagen Beetles driving their brand new Porsches

Feels like they are going full circle back to when Patrik Sundström and Tony Tanti (Petey and Brock?) led the team to missing the playoffs every season between 1983 and1987.

Nothing changed until Pat Quinn was hired in 1987 and they drafted Linden at #2 in 1988.

The faster they tank and replace management the better.

That’s exactly the era this reminds me of. It actually could be a quick rebuild if they are smart about it, but I’ve lost all faith in that department.

Sherwood is a UFA, if he keeps it up you might be able land a top prospect or pick with him. I see him testing the market this summer, so they need to consider peeling him off at the TDL.

They could get a haul for Quinn.

Sherwood changed agents heading into his UFA year so he's going all in on scoring a big daddy Warbucks wad

If you can get a 1st for him you jump on that

To be fairrrr... Tanti and Sundstrom, two of my all-time favourite Canucks had to battle the Dynastic Oilers and equally potent Flames in the Smythe while wearing clown costumes... no chance in hell.

Little Arthur was an owner who ran his family business like the old neighbourhood grocer, I believed in his sincerity to win... he brought Pat in, handed him the keys and got out of the way.

Almost immediately, with some shrewd trades and signings, one #2 overall pick and they were no longer the "Kick Me" kids.

Fukin' Otto :scowl:

This ownership? Hockey is a side hustle to make the real money in development. Whoever gets hired, management is neutered. They don't actually care if your little team wins... they just have to make enough in revenue every year to keep it profitable.

Swill those $30 beers. Suckers.

This ownership is worse than the McCaw group. At least with the Griffiths family there was a level of honesty and transparency. With the Jays run and my own oersonal issues, I've not been too interested in the first 15 games. Not sure if they will tweak my interest back for the 25/26 season.

It starts at the top. For the life of me I can't see why the Familia won't just sell the team subject to a public/private arena construction deal back where it belongs. Hastings is where to be. Buy the land or get into bed with the city regarding purchase of the land and nuke the Coluseum and Agrodome. Theres your practice arena. Keep the track there. Drag the PNE out to Colony Farm. The logistics and planning would be massive but downtown is a nightmare to get out of. Let Fredo sell his shiplap condos and get Reynolds, Buble, Pattison, Toigo and some other local rich folks that care about the franchise to hire competent management and leave them the hell alone.

I hear ya - I was looking forward to this season, but then the injuries hit and the team just isn't exciting right now (not that I was expecting an exciting brand of hockey - just a somewhat successful one). I hope they turn it around, but until then, I'll still be watching - but likely with something else going on.

I have no idea what it would take to get new owners, but don't see that happening anytime soon. :/

Franco has been having a tough time bumping Terry Pegula out of the 32nd hole in ownership rankings, but hope springs eternal.

Another bad season and some improvement in Buffalo could finally do it for him this year.

If this is what it has come down to, hoping for an ownership change (which is very likely not happening, why would they)...then the transparent reality of it all which....
