Conditioning and in playing shape may be an interesting topic.
Presumably (from our perception) players are in "pro athlete" shape at all times with (hopefully) limited Delta between Player A & B, C & D et cetera.
Alas perhaps not (as we have seen with the fellow in question to some degree).
An example.
Bowen Byram came from Colorado (where Mackinnon is a reportedly vocal and demanding presence with respect to conditioning and diet so presumably a fit group) but when he arrived in Buffalo he was staggered by the shape Rasmus Dahlin keeps himself in.
I know the Canucks cannot win all the games and some are stinkers but my concern is what I saw in this game is something I have seen a lot of in the past few seasons. No sense of urgency, limited offensive zone time, limited shots on net.
For some reason I do have higher expectations this season and expect the team to be in games and not be dominated like I saw last night. But it is only game 2 so like others I need to temper my negative thoughts until game 20.
Cuz - you can talk about Pavel all you want (you're up and down like a chubby Kiwi BJ Queen about him ffs lol). I'm just trying to save the site from devolving into the same old EP40 battle at the commencement of a season we were all fairly positive about.
Reef - I hear you. I think sometimes (and again, game 2 let's see what happens) we just need to give credit to the opposition, especially when they employ 2 of the top 10 players in the game.
Edmonton lost to Calgary in their home opener in ugly fashion and were not going to let that happen again, especially versus a team that could be in their way this year if things go well for us.
The Canucks are a completely different team than 365 days ago and a work in progress.
The end result was reasonable to assume pre-game imo.
Shouldn't my history of defending the pipe cleaner accentuate my comments moreso than say...a perpetually negative towards the pipe cleaner poster Mëds?
I'm more concerned than ever from that faceoff stat line. If there's no bounce back in st Loo and beyond then Houston (BC)...we have a problem game 2 or game 82

Hughes stepping in front of Petey to take the puck and get a shot with seconds left tells you everything you need to know about both those players.
Are you referring to what Quinn thinks of Pettersson's ability to make a clutch play?

No.
Then clarify if you please.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
